River Hawks host Stony Brook Friday on Senior Night

UMass Lowell will play its final home game of the season at Cushing Field Complex (7:35pm)

SCOUTING THE RIVER HAWKS: UMass Lowell enters Friday's America East contest with a 3-11 overall mark (1-4 AE), after a 12-11 victory in its first America East win in school history last Saturday at Hartford. Sophomore Grant Lardieri (Ada, Mich.) led the way with a 17-save effort on the road. The River Hawks scored seven of the last 10 goals in the game to secure the victory against the Hawks, which including the game-winner by freshman attackman Brandon Beland (Granite Bay, Calif.) with 1:41 left in the contest. Nicholas Pino (North Andover, Mass.), Jon Phillips (Delta, B.C.) and Austin Lane (Aurora, Ont.) all notched a team-high three points (2g,1a) in the win.

Junior attackman Sean Tyrrell (Calgary, Alta.) leads the team with 35 points and 20 assists, while Phillips' 21 goals paces the UMass Lowell offense. Lane's 19 goals rank second on the River Hawk roster. Faceoff midfielder Brett Dattilo (Derry, N.H.) leads the team with 54 ground balls, while junior midfielder Will Puduski (Westford, Mass.) has amassed a team-best 26 caused turnovers. Lardieri has started all 14 games in goal for the River Hawks, posting a 12.06 GAA and .498 save percentage.

The River Hawks have scored seven or more goals in 11 of 14 contests this season. 

UMass Lowell as a team leads America East with 34.79 ground balls per game and rank second among conference teams with 7.5 caused turnovers per game. The River Hawks also lead AE with 8.0 caused turnovers per game in five conference games. UMass Lowell's 21.86 shots on goal per game ranks third among America East squads.

HONORING THE SENIORS: The River Hawks will honor their four-member Senior Class on Friday night in a pre-game ceremony at Cushing Field Complex. Longstick midfielder Chris Litchfield (Burlington, Mass.), goaltender Giles Ober (Southborough, Mass.), midfielder Nicholas Pino (North Andover, Mass.) and midfielder Martin Winter (Lake Oswego, Ore.) will be playing in their final home game of their River Hawk collegiate careers.

Litchfield has played in nine games in his final season in Lowell, posting three points (2g,1a) and nine ground balls. He has played in 39 career games and has totaled 14 points and eight goals, along with 58 ground balls and 24 caused turnovers. 

Ober has appeared in five games in this year, recording eight saves. He has made 23 career appearances, which included 13 in his sophomore season. Ober has amassed 111 total saves in his River Hawk career. He is a two-time Diamond Hawk Award recipient. 

Pino has played in eight games in his final season, registering a career-high 13 points and seven assists. He has 33 career games to his credit with 36 points and 24 goals, to go along with 20 ground balls.

Winter has appeared in seven games in his senior year, notching four points and three goals. He has appeared in 33 contests and played in all 13 contests each of the previous two seasons. He has 20 points and 14 career goals to his credit in addition to 20 ground balls. Winter is also a five-time Diamond Hawk Award recipient with a perfect 4.0 GPA in every semester he has been on the team. 

SCOUTING STONY BROOK: The Seawolves enter Friday's contest with a 6-5 overall record (2-2 AE), which includes their most recent contest which was a 10-9 win at Vermont last Saturday at Virtue Field. Tom Haun totaled a game-high six points (2g,4a) for Stony Brook. Michael Bollinger made 12 saves in the win for the Seawolves for his second victory of the season. Stony Brook scored nine of the games first 13 goals, but Vermont ended the game with five of the final six tallies. Ryan Bitzer leads the team with 41 points and 23 assists. Alex Corpolongo has registered a team-high 27 goals this season. The Seawolves own a 5-2 road record this season and have lost four of their last six games coming into the week. 

AMERICA EAST LEADERS: Sean Tyrrell's 1.43 assists per game ranks sixth among America East players, while Austin Lane's six shots per game is sixth best in the conference. Brett Dattilo's (Derry, N.H.) 3.86 ground balls per game rank fifth in the league. Grant Lardieri's (Ada, Mich.) 147 saves leads America East and his 10.50 saves per game is third best among conference netminders.
