LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell softball team (15-17, 7-3 AE) will play four games on the road this week due to some recent schedule changes. The squad was originally slated to host Dartmouth in a mid-week tilt, but will now make the short trip to Boston University for a 4 p.m. matchup on Tuesday, April 18. The River Hawks will then spend the weekend at Stony Brook for a three-game America East Conference series on April 22-23.

RIVER HAWK REWIND
UMass Lowell owns a 15-17 overall record and a 7-3 mark in America East games after finishing 3-2 once again last week. The River Hawks first split a weekday doubleheader against Maine on April 13, including a 5-3, comeback win in the nightcap. Over the weekend, UMass Lowell traveled to Binghamton and took two of three games in the conference series with a 9-8 win in nine innings in game one and a 12-4 victory in five innings in game three.

LEADING THE FLOCK
Through 32 games this year, freshman Courtney Cashman (Danvers, Mass.) has turned in an impressive, conference-leading .449 average on 48 hits. She also paces the team with 10 doubles, a .664 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base percentage. Four other River Hawks are batting over .300 this season, as senior Tori Alcorn (Lowell, Mass.) and junior Madison Alcorn (Lowell, Mass.) follow with .343 and .342 averages, respectively. T. Alcorn has notched a team-best 28 runs scored and four stolen bases, while sophomore Sydney Barker (Upland, Calif.), who is batting .263, is first on the squad with six home runs and 26 RBI. Sophomore pitcher Kaysee Talcik (Shelton, Conn.) and senior pitcher Lauren Ramirez (Dracut, Mass.) each have six wins in the circle so far this year, while Talcik boasts a 3.75 ERA and 64 strikeouts.

SCOUTING BOSTON UNIVERSITY
The Terriers currently own a 14-21 overall record in 2017 after sweeping a three-game series against Army West Point last weekend. Gabi Martinez leads Boston University with a .349 average and nine doubles, while Moriah Connelly is first on the squad with 40 hits and 36 runs. Kali Magane is 8-8 in the circle with a 3.45 ERA and a team-best 40 strikeouts.

SCOUTING STONY BROOK
The Seawolves, who are 9-21 so far this year with a 5-5 record in America East games, will host Iona on April 18 before welcoming UMass Lowell to town over the weekend. Melissa Rahrich is batting .346 this season with six home runs. Irene Rivera adds 21 RBI to pace the squad, while Jourdin Hering has added to the offense with 34 hits and 17 runs. In the circle, Rahrich owns a 5.32 ERA with a 6-9 record and 60 strikeouts.

SERIES HISTORY
Heading into Tuesday, Boston University leads the all-time series against UMass Lowell, 11-2, after taking a 5-1 win at home in eight innings last season. Stony Brook, who earned a series sweep against the River Hawks in 2016, owns just a slight edge in the all-time series, 9-8.

CONFERENCE STRIDES
With two wins against Binghamton last weekend, the River Hawks have now logged seven America East Conference wins this year, good for the most in the program's Division I history. The team has also won all three conference series it has played so far, another first for the program. Previous records in a single season were five league games wins and one series win.

SEVENTH HEAVEN
UMass Lowell's 9-8 win at Binghamton on April 15 marked the fifth time this year that the River Hawks have been tied with their opponents heading into the seventh inning. The team has consistently thrived in these pressure situations in 2017, boasting a perfect, 5-0 record so far in games that were tied at the start of the seventh.

EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT!
The River Hawks have already played five extra innings games in 2017 and have won four of those contests. The squad first picked up an 8-6 victory at North Texas on Feb. 11 in eight innings before walking off in the eighth, 4-3, against Yale on Feb. 25, downing Charleston, 4-3, in eight on March 12, and taking down Binghamton in nine innings, 9-8, on April 15.

ZEROING IN
Kaysee Talcik turned in the most dominate performance of her career to date in game one of a doubleheader at Hartford on April 2. In that contest, the sophomore pitcher not only hurled her first career no-hitter, but also picked up her second complete-game shutout of the season. The no-hitter marked the first for the program since 2010.

BOMBS AWAY
The River Hawks' bats came alive at the UNCW Tournament on March 17-19, with eight home runs in five games. With only 13 long balls all of last season, the team has already surpassed that mark, combining for 21 homers through 32 games.

DOUBLING UP
The River Hawks, who logged a season-best four doubles in an extra-innings win at North Texas on Feb. 11, are currently leading the conference with 45 doubles on the year.

WALK IT OUT
Redshirt-freshman Casey Harding (Cheshire, Conn.) has drawn 16 walks so far in 2017. That puts her third in the America East rankings.

AROUND THE LEAGUE
UMass Lowell is tied with Maine for the most wins in league play right now (7). As a team, the River Hawks are ranked second in the America East for several categories, including batting average (.297), slugging percentage (.437) and hits (262).

RECEIVING RECOGNITION
Courtney Cashman picked up her second America East Rookie of the Week nod this season on April 11 following an impressive, five-game week that included nine hits, six RBI a 1.000 slugging percentage. Cashman was previously named both AE Rookie of the Week and River Hawk of the Week on March 21 after batting .500 with eight runs and eight RBI in six games. Kaysee Talcik earned her second career America East Pitcher of the Week nod and her first of the new season on Feb. 28, following her complete-game win against North Dakota in which she recorded a personal-best eight strikeouts.
