River Hawks ready for pair of road games this week

UMass Lowell travels to Dartmouth Tuesday and Hartford on Saturday

SCOUTING THE RIVER HAWKS: UMass Lowell enters the week with a 2-10 overall record (0-4 AE), after a 12-11 loss to Vermont on Saturday at Cushing Field Complex. The River Hawks scored three goals in the last six minutes to bring the score within one, but could not complete the comeback. Sophomore Austin Lane (Aurora, Ont.) notched a team-high five points (3g,2a) with nine shots to pace the River Hawk offensive attack. Freshman attackman Isaac Bot (Calgary, Alta.), junior Jon Phillips (Delta, B.C.) and senior Nicholas Pino (North Andover, Mass.) each tallied two goals for UMass Lowell. Pino registered a career and game-high 10 shots, while also managed nine shots in the losing effort. UMass Lowell outshot the 'Cats, 27-22 for the game, including a 11-5 advantage in the fourth quarter. UMass Lowell owns a 1-4 road record this season and have three road contests remaining with one home game remaining on Friday, April 21st vs. Stony Brook (7:35pm) on Senior Night. The River Hawks were last victorious on March 11th at Manhattan. The River Hawks have scored seven or more goals in nine of 12 contests this season. 

UMass Lowell as a team leads America East with 34.75 ground balls per game and rank second among conference teams with 7.42 caused turnovers per game. UMass Lowell's 21.92 shots on goal per game ranks third among America East squads. 

SCOUTING DARTMOUTH: The Big Green own a 1-8 record (0-3 Ivy League) headed into Tuesday's matchup. Dartmouth has lost six in a row, which includes their most recent loss at Yale (13-6) this past Saturday. Richie Loftus had two goals in the losing effort for the Big Green, while George Christopher totaled 15 saves on the day. Dartmouth has posted a 1-2 record at home so far this season. Loftus leads the team with 16 goals and 23 points in nine games for the Big Green. The River Hawks beat Dartmouth by an 11-10 score on April 19, 2016 at Cushing Field Complex in the last meeting between the teams.

SCOUTING HARTFORD: The Hawks have posted a 4-6 overall record (1-2 AE) through 10 games in 2017. Hartford is coming off a 10-9 loss at Binghamton on Saturday. Dylan Jinks had a hat trick for the Hawks in the loss. The Hawks own a 2-4 home record this season. Griffin Feiner leads the team with 35 points and 14 assists, while his 21 goals are tied for the team lead along with Justin Huggins. Ryan Vanderford has started seven games for the Hawks this year, posting a 4-3 record with a 9.00 GAA and .504 save percentage.  

AMERICA EAST LEADERS: Sean Tyrrell's 1.58 assists per game ranks fifth among America East players, while Austin Lane's 5.83 shots per game is sixth best in the conference. Brett Dattilo's (Derry, N.H.) 3.83 ground balls per game rank fifth in the league. Grant Lardieri's (Ada, Mich.) 130 saves leads America East and his 10.83 saves per game is second best among conference netminders.
