FISHKILL, N.Y. – A walk-off single in the bottom of the 13th inning was the difference as the UMass Lowell (10-9) baseball team fell to the Marist Red Foxes (12-8), 6-5, on Wednesday afternoon.

After the first two batters reached in the frame, Anthony Lazar singled to left with out to push across the winning run for the hosts. The Red Foxes scored the final two runs of the game as they tied up the contest at 5-5 in the eighth inning.

With the River Hawks trailing 4-2 in the top of the sixth,
Ben Prada (Laurel, Md.) knotted the game up at 4-4 with a two-run triple that scored
John Polichetti (Atkinson, N.H.) and
Nick Barry (Grafton, Mass.).

UMass Lowell jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second frame sparked by a leadoff double from
Russ Olive (Chelmsford, Mass.). After advancing to third, the sophomore came around to score on a throwing error by the pitcher for the game's first run.
Chris Sharpe (Burlington, Mass.) capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly to the right fielder in foul territory to score Barry.

The Red Foxes got one run back in the bottom of the frame and took a 3-2 lead after three full innings. The hosts extended their advantage to 4-2 after scoring for the third inning in a row during the bottom of the fourth.

Steve Passatempo (Medford, Mass.) led UMass Lowell with three hits, while Sharpe and Prada both drove in a pair.

The River Hawks are back on the road tomorrow afternoon for a non-conference matchup against Central Connecticut at 3:30 p.m.
