AUBURN, Ala. – The UMass Lowell softball team (1-3) will play its second of four early season tournaments this weekend when the squad takes part in the 2017 Tiger Invitational on Friday-Saturday, February 24-25.

The River Hawks are slated to take on 2016 NCAA Tournament participant, No. 13 James Madison, and 2016 national runnerup and host, No. 2 Auburn, on Friday, Feb. 24 beginning at 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., respectively. The team also plays two games on Saturday, squaring off against North Dakota at 1 p.m. and taking on Yale at 8 p.m.

RIVER HAWK RECAP
UMass Lowell owns a 1-3 overall record after the first weekend of action. The team took part in the University of North Texas Tournament on Feb. 11-12 to kick off the new season. The River Hawks first split their decisions on day one, falling, 10-1, against Arkansas before defeating North Texas, 8-6, in eight innings. On day two, UMass Lowell faced an 11-0 setback against Arkansas before dropping a 6-0 decision against North Texas. Redshirt-freshman
Casey Harding (Cheshire, Conn.) led the team at the plate, batting .375 in those four games. Â Sophomore

LEADING THE FLOCK
Through four games this year,
Casey Harding leads the River Hawks with a .375 batting average, three walks, two runs scored and an .875 slugging percentage. Harding is also tied for the team's top spot with three hits. Senior
Tori Alcorn (Lowell, Mass.), who is hitting .273, is first on the team with three RBI.
Sydney Wash is currently 1-0 in the circle, while senior
Lauren Ramirez (Dracut, Mass.) owns a team-best 4.45 ERA and 12 strikeouts.

AROUND THE LEAGUE
Heading into this weekend, only three America East teams have seen action including UMass Lowell. UMBC is leading the way so far with a 3-6 record on the young season, while Binghamton follows with a 2-4 mark. Individually,
Lauren Ramirez is leading the league with 12 strikeouts.
