LOWELL, Mass. -- The UMass Lowell women's basketball team comes back from the holiday break with two games left on the three-game homestand, as the River Hawks host Morgan State and Cornell to wrap up 2017. The matchup against Cornell is set for noon on New Year's Eve and will be UMass Lowell's final non-conference game of the season.

Kayla Gibbs (Teaneck, N.J.) enters the game with 994 career points, as she looks to become the first player to score 1,000 points in Division I for the River Hawks.
A Look Back
In the first game of the homestand, UMass Lowell fell to Massachusetts, 73-63, at Costello on December 13. 
Paula Lopez (Leon, Spain) led the offense with 17 points, while 
Linda Svenne (Riga, Latvia) and 
Megan Hendrick (Alexandria, Va.)  added 11 and 10 points, respectively. 
Kayla Gibbs (Teaneck, N.J.) saw her double-double streak end at seven straight games.
Leading the Flock
The River Hawks are paced by 
Kayla Gibbs (14.3 ppg) and 
Paula Lopez (11.7 ppg), while Gibbs is also averaging 10.7 rebounds. Lopez has recorded 30 assists and 20 steals, and 
Jennifer Louro (Belmar, N.J.) leads the team with her 16 three-point field goals. As a unit, UMass Lowell is shooting 42.6 percent from the field, and 34.0 percent from beyond the arc.

Despite sitting in seventh place, the River Hawks are one of the league's best offensive teams. UMass Lowell leads the America East in FG percentage (42.6), 3-FG percentage (34.0) and ranks second with 68.8 points per game.
Scouting Morgan State
The Bear (6-6) have lost three straight contests, including two since the last time UMass Lowell has stepped on the court. Lexus Spears leads the team with 13.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, while Braennan Farrar is second with 12.3 points and 5.3 boards. Spears has recorded 13 blocks, while Farrar has 43 assists and 35 steals. Morgan State is shooting 39.0 percent from the field, and 28.8 from three-point range.
Scouting Cornell
The Big Red (2-8) are in the midst of a three-game skid and play at New Hampshire before the New Year's Eve matchup. Samantha Widmann sits a top the team with 15.3 points per game, 30 steals and seven blocks. Christine Ehland controls the glass with 6.1 boards, while Daniel Jorgenson has 43 helpers. Cornell is connecting on a 35.3 percent clip from the field and 29.9 percent from beyond the arc.

Both matchups marks the first meetings in the all-time series.
Playing Em Where We Want Em
Five of Morgan State's six wins have come at home, with the Bears posting a 1-6 mark away from Baltimore, including one neutral site loss. Morgan State has lost its last three road contests, including a tilt at No. 10 West Virginia. The Bears are getting outscored 73.5-55.7 in their true road contests.
The Three Is Back
Last season, UMass Lowell recorded its worst three-point shooting season since 2013-14, only connecting at a 29.2 percent clip. So far in 2017-18, the River Hawks are shooting 34.0 percent to pace the America East.
