River Hawks to Host No. 21 New Hampshire in AE Semifinals

LOWELL, Mass. --
The two-seeded UMass Lowell men's soccer team will host the No. 3 seed New Hampshire in America East semifinal action on November 8 at Cushing Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

The River Hawks earned a first-round bye with a 5-2-0 mark in conference play, while the Wildcats finished two points behind, going 4-2-1. In the season's first meeting, also in Lowell, the hosts were able to knock off the No.17-ranked team in the country in double overtime. 

This marks UMass Lowell's first America East tournament appearance in program history, a year after capturing the regular-season title.

In the other semifinal action, top-seeded Vermont hosts UAlbany at 7 p.m.The winners of each semifinal will advance to the America East Men's Soccer Championship Game on Sunday, November 12th on the campus of the highest remaining seed.
 
Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for children ($14 and under), and $2 for any America East student-athletes (with valid ID).

Students Enter Free
The $2 entry fee to the UMass Lowell vs. New Hampshire semifinal has been waived for all UMass Lowell students. The free admission for students has been sponsored by  UMass Lowell Student Affairs.

Leading the Flock
After the 16-game regular season, Jakov Basic (Zagreb, Croatia) leads the team with his four goals and 11 total points, while adding three assists. Dario Jovanovski (Zagreb, Croatia) paces the squad with four assists, as he adds three scores for 10 points. With his two tallies at Hartford, Alejandro Osorio (Hollywood, Fla.) (3g, 2a) now sits tied with Ivan Abramovic (Zagreb, Croatia) for third on the team with eight points. Between the pipes, Austin Kroll (Baltimore, Md.) has allowed 18 goals on 161 shots, and has recorded 37 saves with a 1.08 goals against average and six shutouts.

Home Sweet Home
The River Hawks are riding a 15-game unbeaten streak (12-0-3) in the Mill City over the last two seasons, the third longest home unbeaten streak in program history. UMass Lowell has posted a 21-7-4 home record since 2014. Since joining DI, the boys in blue are 22-10-5 at Cushing Field.

A Helping Hand
The River Hawks rank second in the conference with 27 total assists, and pace the league with 1.69 helpers per game.

Abramovic: Croatian for Clutch
Eight of Abramovic's 12 career goals are game winners, including both of his scores in 2017 to sit in second among scorers in the conference. 

Scouting New Hampshire
The Wildcats (12-2-4, 4-2-1 AE) used a Jacob Gould goal in the 71st minute to knock off Stony Brook, 1-0, in quarterfinal action on November 4. Robin Schmidt leads the offense with six goals and 13 points, ad Antonio Colacci has a team-high four helpers. In net, Andrew Pesci has 10 shutouts and a 0.47 GAA as he has started all 18 games for New Hampshire. 

Series History
The River Hawks are 2-3 all-time against New Hampshire, with the lone win coming earlier this season in a 1-0 double overtime result.

Saving Space in the Records
Kroll now sits third all-time with 35 career wins and tied for second with 23 career blank sheets. With 1499:17 of total playing time this season, he sits second all-time with 6011:28 minutes in a River Hawk uniform.

Croatian Connection
All five Croatian players have recorded a point this season, combining for 39 of the team's 71 points. Four of the five rank among the squad's top five leading scorers. 

Notables
Roko Prsa (Sisak, Croatia) was named the America East Rookie of the Week (10.23) ... Basic picked up his first career America East Player of the Week award (9.18) ... UMass Lowell has won three consecutive season openers for the first time since 1999-2002, when the team earned victories in four straight.
