STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- The UMass Lowell Volleyball team was defeated in straight sets on Friday night at Stony Brook in America East play. The set scores were 25-17, 25-23 and 25-11.
The River Hawks fall to 5-18 overall (0-10 AE), while the Seawolves improve to 16-9 overall and up their America East record to 6-3.Â
"We had some great moments tonight, but unfortunately unforced errors and a scrappy Stony Brook defense kept us from getting into rhythm," said Head Coach
Resa Provanzano. "This team has a lot of fight though, so I am excited to see how we respond on Sunday at Iona"
Sophomore outside hitter
Katherine Claybaugh (Danville, Calif.) recorded a match-high 10 kills with a .364 hitting percentage in the losing effort, to go along with eight digs. Junior middle blocker
Lade Adeniyi (Springfield, Ill.) chipped in with seven kills and a .294 hitting percentage. Freshman outside hitter
Morgan Given (Orlando, Fla.) totaled six kills for UMass Lowell.

Lindsey Visvardis (Homer Glen, Ill.) amassed a match-high 12 digs on defense.Â
Maria Poole tallied 10 kills to lead the offense for Stony Brook.Â
UMass Lowell as a team tallied 16 kills with a .263 hitting percentage in the second set.Â
The River Hawks are back in action on Sunday, November 5th at Iona for their final non-conference match of the season. Game time from Hynes Athletic Center is 1 p.m. from New Rochelle, N.Y. The game will be televised live on ESPN3.com and the Watch ESPN App.Â
