LOWELL, Mass. – Five players reached double-figures as the UMass Lowell women's basketball team eclipsed the century mark for the first time in Division I in the team's 102-47 win against Fisher College on Monday night.
Kayla Gibbs (Teaneck, N.J.) led the way with 25 points and 11 rebounds, becoming the River Hawks' (2-4) first 20-point scorer in 22 games. The performance also marked her third consecutive double-double.
The other four players in double digits set career highs, led by
Jennifer Louro's (Belmar, N.J.) 18 points, with 11 coming in the first half as she connected on four of the squad's eight three pointers.
Cierra Stanciel (Chicago, Ill.) added 15 points with three assists and three steals, while
Katie McKie (Austin, Texas) and
Angel Agoth (Rochester, Minn.) chipped in 10 points with Agoth completing a double-double with a game-high 13 rebounds.
UMass Lowell opened the game on 14-2 run, but saw the Falcons (4-5) cut the deficit to 22-16 with 8:31 left in the half.
Paula Lopez (Leon, Spain) ended the half with a buzzer-beating three-pointer to give the hosts a 44-21 advantage.
The River Hawks haven't eclipsed 100 points since a 134-65 win in 2012, and marks the third-time for the feat in the program's history. The 55-point margin of victory is also the third largest for a UMass Lowell team.
Fisher's Choon-Hee Chae led her team with 14 points and Carroll Murphy added 12.
The River Hawks begin a four-game road swing with a trip to Connecticut on November 29 to take on the Fairfield Stags at 7 p.m.
