LOWELL, Mass. -- The UMass Lowell men's soccer team dropped a double overtime heartbreaker in the America East Championship, 1-0, to the UAlbany Great Danes on Andreas Assiotis' goal in the 103rd minute.
Assiotis gathered a pass from Carlos Clark at the top of the box and sent the shot into the upper left corner to clinch back-to-back titles for the Great Danes (14-4-2).
In the first overtime, UMass Lowell (10-7-1) had their best opportunity but could not put the rebound home off of Roko Prsa's (Sisak, Croatia) shot in the 96th minute.
Each team recorded eight shots apiece, and each keeper recorded one stop.
UAlbany will enter the NCAA Tournament with the America East's automatic bid, while the River Hawks will learn their fate during the selection show at 1 p.m.
