River Hawks Return Home to Entertain Stony Brook

LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell men's soccer team returns home following a three-game road swing, hosting Stony Brook in the River Hawks' conference home opener. The contest also marks the America East's Spread Respect night, as a part of the partnership with You Can Play and LGBT SportSafe. 

Leading the Flock
Jakov Basic (Zagreb, Croatia) (4g, 2a) sits atop the team in goals and total points (10), while Dario Jovanovski (Zagreb, Croatia)has six points (2g, 2a). Gui Rodrigues (Lowell, Mass.) leads the offense with three assists, as the River Hawks have 16 helpers on the year. Between the pipes, Austin Kroll (Baltimored, Md.) has allowed 13 goals on 94 shots, and has recorded 25 saves with a 1.37 goals against average.

Home Sweet Home
The River Hawks are riding a 12-game unbeaten streak (9-0-3) in the Mill City over the last two seasons, to mark the fourth longest home unbeaten streak in program history. UMass Lowell has posted a 18-7-4 home record since 2014. Since joining DI, the boys in blue are 19-10-5 at Cushing Field.

A Helping Hand
The River Hawks rank second in the America East with their 16 assists and 1.78 assists per game.
 
Scouting Stony Brook
The Seawolves (6-2-3, 0-0-1) took a non-conference matchup against Sacred Heart, 4-1, after playing to a scoreless draw to open their America East slate. Vince Erdei leads Stony Brook in both goals (7) and total points (15), as he has added an assist. Two players have recorded a pair of helpers to pace the team, while three players have two goals as well. In net, Tom McMahon has made seven starts while Jacob Braham has recorded four. McMahon leads the tandem with five wins, a 0.88 GAA, 32 saves, two shutouts and a 0.842 save percentage. 
 
Series History
The River Hawks 6-1-1 all-time against Stony Brook, including a 4-0 mark in the Division I era. UMass Lowell took last year's meeting 1-0. 

Saving Space in the Records
Kroll now sits third all-time with 30 career wins and 19 career blank sheets. With 762:53 of total playing time this season, he sits fifth all-time with 5,275:04 minutes in a River Hawk uniform.
 
Croatian Connection
All four Croatian players have recorded a point this season, combining for 25 of the team's 40 points. Basic's 10 points lead the group while Jovanovski has six, while Blaskic and Ivan Abramovic (Zagreb, Croatia) have five and four, respectively. 

Notables
Basic picked up his first career America East Player of the Week award (9.18) ... UMass Lowell has won three consecutive season openers for the first time since 1999-2002, when the team earned victories in four straight.
