LOWELL, Mass. –
The UMass Lowell field hockey team wraps up its second and final three-game homestand this season with two more matchups this weekend. The squad is set to face off against America East rival New Hampshire under the lights at Wicked Blue Field on Friday, October 6 beginning at 7 p.m. before welcoming Sacred Heart on Sunday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m.

River Hawk Rewind
UMass Lowell owns a 6-6 overall record so far in 2017, including a 1-1 mark in America East action after splitting a pair of games last week. The team put together an exciting, 2-1 double overtime upset against No. 18 UAlbany on Sept. 29 for its first ever win against the Great Danes and a nationally-ranked opponent. It was freshman Sophie Gehrels (Zeist, Utrecht, Netherlands) who tallied the game-winner in the 90th minute on a pass from sophomore Anouk Lalande (Brussels, Belgium). Later in the weekend on Oct. 1, the River Hawks jumped out to an early, 2-0 lead against Maine with goals from Lalande, but they would eventually fall, 3-2, in overtime.

Leading the Flock
Through 12 games, Anouk Lalande paces the River Hawks with 10 goals and 22 points. Junior Torrie Huk (Milford, Del.) follows with five goals for 10 points. Senior Christa Doiron (Worcester, Mass.), who adds nine points, has notched a team-best five assists. Sophomore Eva Berkhout (Amersfoort, Utrecht, Netherlands) owns a 5-6 record in the cage, totaling 79 saves for a .760 save percentage.

Scouting New Hampshire
The Wildcats sit at 4-6 overall this season and 1-1 in America East play. UNH defeated Vermont, 3-1, for their first league win of the year on Sept. 29, but faced a 4-0 setback against No. 9 Boston College on Oct. 1. Katie Audino is leading the Wildcats with four goals and 11 total points. Bloem van den Brekel, who adds nine points, is tied with Audino for the team lead in assists (3). Goalkeepers Kelsey Rudert and Madelyn McAteer have split time in the cage, as Rudert boasts 31 saves and McAteer owns a .682 save percentage.

Scouting Sacred Heart
The Pioneers are currently 4-7 heading into this weekend's action, although they will host Siena on Oct. 6 before coming to Lowell. The team went 1-1 last week, being handed a 4-0 loss at Monmouth on Sept. 29 and earning a 2-0 victory at Brown on Oct. 1. Nichole Tolli totals a team-high nine points, while Bridget LaRiccia follows with a team-best four goals and eight points. Hailey Power and Emily Degennaro have made six and five starts, respectively, in front of the cage, as Power has turned away 51 shots for a .750 save percentage.

Series History
The River Hawks and the Wildcats will be meeting for the seventh time on Friday, as UNH leads the all-time series, 5-1. UMass Lowell earned a 2-1 decision when the teams met on Oct. 7 last year, but New Hampshire responded with victory by the same score later in the year on Oct. 23. The River Hawks lead the series against Sacred Heart, 5-3, following a 5-0 shutout win against the Pioneers a season ago.

Around the League
The River Hawks are currently third in the East Division standings. The team is also ranked second overall in the league for shots (176), in addition to leading the America East with 90 saves and 82 corners so far. Individually, Torrie Huk is second in the America East for shots (45) and Anouk Lalande is second for goals (10).

Three Cheers
The River Hawks picked up three consecutive overtime wins for the first time in program history from Sept. 1-8. All of the decisions ended in a 2-1 score, as the team defeated both Miami (Ohio) and Ball State in a single extra period before outlasting Georgetown in a hard-fought outing that went to a sudden-death shootout. The Georgetown match marked the first time the River Hawks have gone to a shootout since 2011.

Over and Over and Over Again
UMass Lowell has now battled its opponents into overtime during five games in 2017, coming out on top in four of those contests. This marks the most overtime games in a season since 1990 when the squad went to extra time on six occasions.
