River Hawks Drop Senior Night Match, 3-0 to Binghamton

The UMass Lowell volleyball team fought hard, but eventually fell to Binghamton in straight sets at Costello Athletic Center on Saturday night. The set scores were 27-25, 25-22 and 26-24. The squad honored seniors Malorie McIver (Austin, Texas) and Masha Yelsukova (Santa Clara, Calif.) in a pregame ceremony.

The loss drops the River Hawks record to 5-17 overall and 0-9 in conference play, while the Bearcats improve to 8-13 overall and 5-4 in America East play.

Freshman Morgan Given (Orlando, Fla.) led the team offensively with 10 kills, which is a season-high. Sophomore's Katherine Claybaugh (Danville, Calif.) and Madi Bell (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) each chipped in with nine kills apiece.

Lindsey Visvardis (Homer Glenn, Ill.) recorded 20 digs, while fellow junior Lade Adeniyi (Springfield, Ill.) blocked Binghamton seven times to pace the way on the defensive side of the net.

Junior Delaney Medez (Phoenix, Ariz.) and sophomore McKenna Bova (Corona, Calif.) each tallied 15 assists.

As a team, the River Hawks out hit the Bearcats .240 to .216 on the night, led by Given's .474 hitting percentage. The squad also out blocked  the visitors 12-5.
