LOWELL, Mass. -- The UMass Lowell Hockey team fell to Northeastern, 3-1 in Hockey East play on Friday night at the Tsongas Center in front 4,583 fans.Â
With the loss, the River Hawks drop to 3-4-0 overall (0-3-0 HEA), while Northeastern improve to 3-2-1 overall (1-0-0 HEA).Â
Freshman forward
Connor Sodergren (Tewksbury, Mass.) scored his first career goal for the River Hawks in the losing effort just 7:31 into the third period.
Adam Gaudette notched a hat trick in the game with a power-play goal in the first period and two goals in the middle stanza to pace the offense for Northeastern. NU's Jeremy Davies also assisted on all three of Gaudette's tallies.Â
Junior goaltender
Christoffer Hernberg (Espoo, Finland) totaled 16 saves in his fourth start of the season, while Ryan Ruck notched 23 saves in his second win of the season.Â

Nick Master (Broomall, Pa.) won 16 of 25 faceoffs to pace the River Hawks from the circle. Senior forward
Jake Kamrass (Atlanta, Ga.) registered a game-high five shots on goal.Â
UMass Lowell outshot Northeastern, 10-3 in the third frame.Â
The River Hawks finish the two-game series tomorrow night at Northeastern. Game time is set for 7 p.m. from Matthews Arena in Boston.Â
