PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Despite outshooting Brown (7-4-1), 12-6, the UMass Lowell men's soccer team (7-6-0) came up short in its final non-conference game, falling 1-0 to the Bears on a rainy night in the Ocean State.Â
The Bears recorded the only goal of the contest on Toby Howell's header in the 13th minute. It was the only shot on goal for the hosts until the 88th minute, as the River Hawks controlled possession throughout the tilt.
Jakov Basic (Zagreb, Croatia) led all players with three shots, while Gui Rodrigues (Lowell, Mass.) and
Dario Jovanovski (Zagreb, Croatia) each added a pair of attempts. The trio accounted for all three of the visitors shots on target.
Freshman
Owen Miller (Medford, Mass.) recorded his first career start in the match, as well.
The River Hawks get ready to host No. 17 New Hampshire on October 28 for the program's Senior Night. UMass Lowell's seven seniors will be honored in a pre-game ceremony.Â
