River Hawks Wrap Up Non-Conference Slate Before Senior Night

LOWELL, Mass. – After punching its ticket to the program's first America East Championship, the UMass Lowell men's soccer team enters the final three games of the regular-season looking to build on the squad's three wins in its last four games. The River Hawks head to Providence for their final non-conference test at Brown, before hosting the Wildcats of New Hampshire for Senior Night on October 28.

Playoffs?! Let's Talk About Playoffs
Following the River Hawks' 2-0 win at Binghamton, UMass Lowell clinched its first-ever berth in the America East Tournament. Heading into the weekend's action, the River Hawks sit in fourth place with nine points. Six of the eight teams will qualify, while top four seeds will host at least one game, with the top two teams earning a first-round bye.

Leading the Flock
Following his two assist night, Dario Jovanovski (Zagreb, Croatia) (3g, 4a) moved into a tie with Jakov Basic (Zagreb, Croatia) (4g, 2a) for the team lead with 10 points. Ivan Abramovic (Zagreb, Croatia) has eight points (3g, 2a). Basic's four scores pace the offense, as do Jovanovski's four helpers. Between the pipes, Austin Kroll (Baltimore, Md.) has allowed 17 goals on 129 shots, and has recorded 33 saves with a 1.26 goals against average and four shutouts. 

A Helping Hand
The River Hawks lead the America East with 1.77 assists per game, and are tied for second with 23 assists. 

Abramovic: Croatian for Clutch
Eight of Abramovic's 12 career goals are game winners, including both of his scores in 2017 to sit in second among scorers in the conference. 

Scouting Brown
The Bears (6-4-2, 1-2-1 Ivy) are 1-2-1 in October following their 1-0 setback at Cornell on Saturday, and only have two wins since their 4-0 start. Junior Toby Howell leads the team with four goals and 10 points, while adding a pair of assists. Seniors Quinn English and Nico Lozada have recorded three assists apiece to help facilitate the offense. In net, Joey Cipicchio has made all 12 starts, posting a 0.86 GAA and a .776 save percentage with 38 saves.  

Scouting New Hampshire
The No. 18 Wildcats (11-1-3, 4-1-0) have won five straight, including four America East contests, following their 2-0 win against Stony Brook their last time out. Leading scorer Robin Schmidt has tallied six goals and one assist for 13 points, while Antonio Colacci has recorded four assists. Andrew Pesci has been one of the conference's best keepers, pacing all keepers in wins (11), GAA (0.44) and shutouts (nine). 

Series History
The River Hawks are 1-1-0 against Brown, following last year's 2-1 win. In 2016, New Hampshire was the only team to beat UMass Lowell, improving to 3-1 all-time agaisnt the River Hawks. 

Home Sweet Home
The River Hawks are riding a 14-game unbeaten streak (11-0-3) in the Mill City over the last two seasons, to move into a tie for the third longest home unbeaten streak in program history. UMass Lowell has posted a 20-7-4 home record since 2014. Since joining DI, the boys in blue are 21-10-5 at Cushing Field.

Kroll now sits third all-time with 33 career wins and 21 career blank sheets. With 1212:53 of total playing time this season, he sits second all-time with 5,725:04 minutes in a River Hawk uniform.

Croatian Connection
All five Croatian players have recorded a point this season, combining for 36 of the team's 61 points, scoring 13 goals adding 10 assists. 

Notables
Roko Prsa (Sisak, Croatia) was named the America East Rookie of the Week (10.23) ... Basic picked up his first career America East Player of the Week award (9.18) ... UMass Lowell has won three consecutive season openers for the first time since 1999-2002, when the team earned victories in four straight.
