Story Links

BURLINGTON, Vt. -- The UMass Lowell men's soccer team (6-5-1, 2-2-0) could not complete the comeback and fell, 2-1, on the road to the Vermont Catamounts (8-6-0, 3-1-0) in America East action on Saturday night.

The River Hawks controlled the possession and opportunities for most of the contest, but could only capitalize on Ivan Abramovic's (Zagreb, Croatia) penatly kick goal in the 54th minute. The visitors out shot the Catamounts, 12-7, and recorded six corners to Vermont's two.

Vermont took a 1-0 lead on a Mikel Kabala shot from the spot in the 14th minute, and doubled the advantage minutes before Abramovic's score, when Geo Alves converted on a distance strike.

UMass Lowell looked to have converted the equalizer in the 83rd minute, but the play was whistled offsides.

Following a week off, the River Hawks look to pick up their third conference win at Binghamton on October 21.
