LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell women's soccer team closes out their regular season home slate this week with a matchup against UMBC on Thursday, October 12 before celebrating Senior Day against Binghamton on Sunday, October 15.

Last Time Out
The River Hawks came out on fire on Oct. 5 against Vermont as junior
Rachel Morrier (Plaistow, N.H.) scored twice in the first 15 minutes of action, but gave up two goals in the second half and played to a draw against the Catamounts. Morrier scored two more times at UAlbany on Oct. 8, as the squad took down the defending America East Champs, 2-1.

Leading the Way
Morrier continues to pace the team offensively for the River Hawks, scoring eight goals and tallying two assists for 18 points, while also leading the way in shots (54) and shots on goal (25). Morrier's goals, assists and points are all career-highs for the red-shirt junior captain. Senior
Andrea Morrow (West Boylston, Mass.) has two goals and an assist for four points, good for second on the team. Freshman
Kristin Birgisdottir (Mofsfellsbaer, Iceland) and senior
Shannon Groffie (Toms River, N.J.) round out the River Hawks in points with four and two, respectively.

Julia Schneider (Bridgewater, Mass.) leads the way in net for the River Hawks. The captain has stopped 78 shots, garnering a .857 save percentage and carrying a 0.99 goals-against average.

Scouting UMBC (2-8-3, 0-4-0 AE)
The Retrievers are coming off a 4-1 loss to Hartford on Oct. 8. Jamie Shiflett scored her first goal of the season in the 88th minute of the contest. Christina Corbi leads the way for the squad offensively, scoring two goals and adding an assist for five points. Gabby Boehmer, Olivia Bronson, and Elysia Paolillo each have two goals for four points. Seven Retrievers have scored a goal, while 10 have tallied a point. Leah Roth leads the way in net, stopping 57 shots and carrying a 1.50 goals-against average and a .750 save percentage into the contest.

Scouting Binghamton (8-3-3, 2-2-0 AE)
The Bearcats are coming off a 3-0 victory against the Retrievers on Thursday night. Kayla Saager, Dora Hayes and Genna Michitti each netted a goal for the squad, while Mackenzie Hanna stopped three shots in the shutout. Saager leads the way offensively for the squad with 25 points from 10 goals and five assists. Ryan Reilly and Essie Bonney have both scored three goals on the season for second and third on the team. Seven players have scored a goal, while 10 have tallied a point. Katie Hatziylanis has been stout in goal for the Bearcats, stopping 57 shots and carrying a 0.85 goals-against average and .838 save percentage on the year.

The River Hawks and Bearcats will meet on the pitch for the seventh time in school history, with Binghamton leading the all-time matchup, 5-1-0.

Overtime Rules
On Oct. 5, the River Hawks played to a double overtime draw against Vermont, marking the fifth time this season the squad has played in an overtime contest, which is a Division I record, and one more than the previous record of four set in the 2016 and 2014 seasons. Since making the jump in 2013, the River Hawks have played to a 6-2-7 record when going to extra time.

From the Start
In both of last week's games, the River Hawks held both opponents scoreless in the opening 45 minutes of play. With this result, the squad extended their Division I streak to 10 games accomplishing the feat, two more than the previous streak of eight set in each of the last four seasons.

Notables
Morrier was awarded the America East Player of the Week (10/09) for her four-goal effort that led the team to an unbeaten (1-0-1) week. The award was the first of her career and the second for the squad this season. Morrier also received the River Hawk of the Week distinction following her performance.

With Birgisdottir's first goal of the season against Hartford in the conference opener, the forward was named America East Rookie of the Week (9/25). The accolade was her first and the squad's first of the season. Birgisdottir was also named the River Hawk of the Week for her efforts in the Sept. 24 game against Hartford.
