LOWELL, Mass. -- The UMass Lowell women's basketball team wraps up its final road swing of the season, as the River Hawks take on Stony Brook on Long Island Monday afternoon.

Markayla Sherman (Cincinnati, Ohio) scored a career-high 15 points and
Kayla Gibbs (Teaneck, N.J.) registered her fifth double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds, extending her double-digit scoring streak to 14 games. However, the River Hawks could not overcome the Hartford press in the 80-59 loss on January 14.
Leading the Flock
In the midst of reaching double-digits in 14 consecutive games,
Kayla Gibbs leads the team with 12.8 points, and is snagging a team-high 7.8 boards per game, while
Tyshay Britten (Norristown, Pa.) has a team-high 13 blocks.
Asia Mitchell-Owens (Roxbury, Mass.) has dished out 38 total assists to rank atop the team. UMass Lowell is shooting at a 38.9 percent clip from the field, and connecting on 30.8 percent from three-point range.
Scouting Stony Brook
The Seawolves (8-8, 1-2) snapped a two-game losing streak with a 55-41 win against Maine on January 14. Kori Bayne-Walker is scoring 11.9 points to lead the offense, while Davion Wingate is close behind with 11.1 points per game. The duo of Christa Scognamiglio and Elizabeth Manner sit atop the team with 5.8 rebounds per game apiece. Stony Brook has connected on 38.2 percent of its field goals, and 30.3 percent on three-pointers this season.
Conference Board Meeting
Throughout the first four conference games this season,
Kayla Gibbs and
Tyshay Britten rank first and eighth in the America East in total rebounding, respectively. Gibbs is grabbing 10.5 boards per game, while Britten is snagging 6.3. The redshirt-senior is fourth in the AE with 3.5 offensive rebounds, while Gibbs is grabbing 7.3 defensive boards to pace the America East. Gibbs' 18-rebound performance against Binghamton is the best single-game mark in the conference this season.
Streak Ender
With the win against Colgate, UMass Lowell ended three losing steaks in the process, including picking up the program's first overtime win in Division I. The River Hawks ended a four-game skid at the Tsongas and picked up their first win against a new opponent in eight games, dating back to last season.
50 Times 6
For only the sixth time in the Division I era, the River Hawks grabbed over 50 rebounds, snagging 51 in the loss against Binghamton. The single-game high since 2013 is 57, set on January 18, 2015.
Free Points
For the second time this season the River Hawks connected on 20 free throws, going 20-of-34 in the win against Colgate. On December 2, the team went 20-of-22 (90.9%) from the free throw line at Columbia. That was the most free throws UMass Lowell has hit in a single game since going 21-of-26 against UMBC in 2014.
H Squared for Three!
The sharpshooting duo of
Megan Hendrick and
Nicole Hayner have combined for 58 of UMass Lowell's 85Â three-pointers, shooting 35.5Â percent from beyond the arc. Hendrick's five triples at Towson were the most in a single contest since Hayner hit five last season against Maine. In 2015-16 Hayner led the team with 46 three-pointers and a 39.7 percentage. She ranked third in the America East with in percentage and fourth in triples made per game with 2.0.

Through 17Â games, the River Hawks'Â reserves have scored 287Â points and have outscored the opponents'Â bench six times, coming off a season-high 29 against Keene State. Last season the River Hawks'Â bench scored 341 points, and outscored opponents 12 times.Â
