The River Hawks couldn't keep pace with the Maine Black Bears on January 11, and were topped 65-44.
Kayla Gibbs (Teaneck, N.J.) scored a team-high 14 points grabbing nine boards and dishing out five assists.Â
Leading the Flock
In the midst of reaching double-digits in 13 consecutive games,
Kayla Gibbs leads the team with 12.7 points, and is snagging a team-high 7.5 boards per game, while
Tyshay Britten (Norristown, Pa.) has a team-high 12 blocks.
Asia Mitchell-Owens (Roxbury, Mass.) has dished out 38 total assists to rank atop the team. UMass Lowell is shooting at a 38.5 percent clip from the field, and connecting on 31.3 percent from three-point range.
Scouting Hartford
The Hawks (11-4, 2-0) are winners of four in a row and eight of their last 10, foloowing a 80-73 win at UMBC on January 11. The team is led by a trio of scorers in double figures, paced by Deanna Mayzaís 15.8 points per game. Sierra DaCosta and Lindsey Abed round out the group with 12.2 and 11.2 points, respectively. On the glass, Janelle Harrison is grabbing 4.9 rebounds, and Alyssa Reaves has recorded 13 blocks. As a unit, Hartford is connecting at a 40.1 percent clip from the field, and is knocking down 38.1 percent of its threes.Â
Conference Board Meeting
Throughout the first three conference games this season,
Kayla Gibbs and
Tyshay Britten rank first and third in the America East in total rebounding, respectively. Gibbs is grabbing 10.0 boards per game, while Britten is snagging 8.0. The redshirt-senior is atop the conference with 4.7 offensive rebounds, while Gibbs is grabbing 7.7 defensive boards to pace the America East. Gibbs'Â 18-rebound performance against Binghamton is the best single-game mark in the conference this season.
Asia on Her Mark
In her 21-point performance at UAlbany,
Asia Mitchell-Owens tied the DI program mark with five threes in a single game.
Megan Hendrick (Alexandria, Va.) connected on five in the season opener, as well. There have been 10 players that have hit five threes during a single game since 2013-14.Â
Shooting 45s
For the second time this season the UMass Lowell offense shot above 45 percent from the field and from beyond the arc, recording 47.9 percent and 52.9 percent, respectively, against UAlbany. The River Hawks are 3-3 in the DI era while putting up those numbers in a single game, with two wins coming against America East foe Vermont.
Streak Ender
With the win against Colgate, UMass Lowell ended three losing steaks in the process, including picking up the program's first overtime win in Division I. The River Hawks ended a four-game skid at the Tsongas and picked up their first win against a new opponent in eight games, dating back to last season.
New Paint Job
The River Hawks scored a season-high 34 points in the paint in the win against Colgate. It marks the fifth time UMass Lowell registered more than 30 in a game this season.

UMass Lowell are now 2-1 in games with a halftime lead, following the win against Keene State.
50 Times 6
For only the sixth time in the Division I era, the River Hawks grabbed over 50 rebounds, snagging 51 in the loss against Binghamton. The single-game high since 2013 is 57, set on January 18, 2015.
Free Points
For the second time this season the River Hawks connected on 20 free throws, going 20-of-34 in the win against Colgate. On December 2, the team went 20-of-22 (90.9%) from the free throw line at Columbia. That was the most free throws UMass Lowell has hit in a single game since going 21-of-26 against UMBC in 2014.
H Squared for Three!
The sharpshooting duo of
Megan Hendrick and
Nicole Hayner have combined for 58 of UMass Lowell's 82 three-pointers, shooting 36.0 percent from beyond the arc. Hendrick's five triples at Towson were the most in a single contest since Hayner hit five last season against Maine. In 2015-16 Hayner led the team with 46 three-pointers and a 39.7 percentage. She ranked third in the America East with in percentage and fourth in triples made per game with 2.0.
Do You Even Bench
Through 16 games, the River Hawks'Â reserves have scored 274 points and have outscored the opponents'Â bench six times, coming off a season-high 29 against Keene State. Last season the River Hawks'Â bench scored 341 points, and outscored opponents 12 times.Â
