LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell field hockey team is slated to play just one game this week, as the squad travels to Holy Cross of the Patriot League on Friday, September 9 for a 5 p.m. tilt.
Looking at UMass Lowell
UMass Lowell is off to a 1-2 start in 2016 after facing a pair of setbacks last week. On Sept. 2, the squad battled back from a three-goal deficit in its home opener against Miami (OH), forcing a double overtime showdown, but eventually succumbed to the RedHawks, 4-3. Scouting Holy Cross
The Crusaders, who are currently 1-2, dropped a pair of decisions last week. The squad first fell in a 2-1, double overtime heartbreaker at Harvard on Sept. 2 before taking a 5-2 setback against Columbia on Sept. 4. Maureen Connolly leads the team with four goals and two assists for 10 total points. Caroline Bono and Madeline Alderfer have each added one goal apiece, as well. Danielle Fucci has started all three games in the cage for Holy Cross so far this season, accumulating 16 saves and a .667 save percentage.
Series History
Friday's contest will mark the 20th meeting between UMass Lowell and Holy Cross. The Crusaders lead the all-time series, 5-14, but the series is currently tied 1-1 during the River Hawks' Division I era. UMass Lowell picked up a 2-1 victory at home when the teams last met on Sept. 6, 2015.
