LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell field hockey team will play two games this week, beginning with a neutral-site contest against Siena at UAlbany on Friday, September 16. The squad then returns home to host Saint Louis for its Team IMPACT Day game on Sunday, Sept. 18.
Â
Team IMPACT Day
The River Hawks host their third annual Team IMPACT Day on Sunday against Saint Louis in honor of Isabelle Johnson. In 2014, the field hockey team drafted Isabelle as an honorary member through Team IMPACT, a Boston-based non-profit organization, whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children facing chronic illnesses. Isabelle was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when she was just nine days old. CF is an illness that can cause life-threatening lung infections and affects an estimated 30,000 people in the U.S. Although Isabelle's life has been dominated by treatments, the nine-year-old loves hockey, cheerleading and gymnastics. In honor of Isabelle and her fight against Cystic Fibrosis, the River Hawks will be sporting purple accessories on Sunday. Be sure to visit the Team IMPACT/Cystic Fibrosis Awareness table at the game to learn how you can help make a difference.Â
