LOWELL, Mass. –
The UMass Lowell softball team will host Hartford in a three-game America East series on Saturday-Sunday, April 23-24. The team will honor its seniors, Team IMPACT member Sicilia Campbell and former River Hawk student-athlete Toni Onikeku during the games this weekend.

SENIOR DAY
The River Hawks will celebrate Senior Day with a special pre-game ceremony before its series finale against Hartford on Sunday, April 24. Pitcher Marielle Handley (Durham, Conn.), first baseman Alyssa Zinkiewicz (Massapequa, N.Y.) and third baseman Taylor August (Howell, N.J.) will each be recognized. TEAM IMPACT DAY
On Saturday, April 23, UMass Lowell celebrates its annual Team IMPACT Day in honor of the softball team's match, Sicilia Campbell. Campbell was one of the first Team IMPACT matches at UMass Lowell, as she joined the River Hawks in August of 2011. The 10-year-old Chelmsford, Mass. native had acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), the fastest growing cancer of the white blood cells. She is now cancer-free and will be graduating from Team IMPACT and the UMass Lowell softball team this year. Campbell will be sent off with her own Senior Day ceremony on Saturday, including throwing out the first pitch to kick off the River Hawks' series against Hartford.

PLAY FOR TONI
This past summer, UMass Lowell unexpectedly lost student-athlete Toni Onikeku, a high jumper on the men's track and field team. Not just an outstanding athlete, he was also an executive board member on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and a volunteer at a refugee center right in Lowell. Each River Hawk team has honored Toni with a game played in his memory this year. The softball team plans to continue the tradition on April 23 against Hartford, sporting blue ribbons for Toni and pausing for a moment of silence prior to the start of the doubleheader.

SCOUTING HARTFORD
The Hawks are currently 5-33 overall and 1-7 in America East games this season. The squad most recently dropped a non-conference doubleheader against Siena on April 20 after falling in two of three last weekend against league opponent UMBC. So far in 2016, Peyton Fisher and Danielle DeMarco lead Hartford with .266 and .265 averages, respectively. DeMarco is first on the team with 27 hits, 12 RBI and three home runs, while Fisher boasts six doubles and 10 RBI. In addition, Bianca Ross has paced the Hartford pitching staff with three wins and 50 strikeouts.

SERIES HISTORY
UMass Lowell leads the all-time series against Hartford, 5-1, in the sport of softball. Last season, the River Hawks swept three games against the Hawks, picking up 8-1, 8-0 and 8-2 wins on April 18-19.
