LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell softball team (7-33, 0-12 AE) will face off against a pair of non-conference opponents in mid-week tilts.

The River Hawks will first visit Central Connecticut State for a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 19 at 2 p.m. before welcoming in-state foe Boston University to River View Field for a single game beginning at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 21.

RIVER HAWK RECAP
UMass Lowell, who owns a 7-33 overall record and a 0-12 mark in league play, picked up three wins last week. The River Hawks split a twin bill at Dartmouth on April 12, taking a 4-3 victory in game one. The squad then wrapped up a 12-game road swing by sweeping a doubleheader at Rhode Island on April 14 with 8-2 and 11-7 wins. UMass Lowell then hosted America East foe Stony Brook for a three-game weekend series, but the Seawolves earned all three decisions. Freshman
Sydney Barker (Upland, Calif.) paced the offense last week with a .435 average and seven runs scored. She added five RBI, in addition to logging her first career home run. Rookie pitcher

SCOUTING CENTRAL CONNECTICUT STATE
The Blue Devils are currently 13-17-1 overall. The team split a doubleheader with Wagner on April 17 after taking two from Mount St. Mary's on April 16. Kaitlin Paterson (.340) and Eileen Purcell (.302) have paced the CCSU offense in 2016. Paterson totals 16 runs scored, and is tied for first with 11 RBI. Emily Sargent owns a 2.94 ERA with 69 strikeouts and an 8-6 record.

SCOUTING BOSTON UNIVERSITY
The Terriers sit at 14-20 so far in 2016. Most recently, the squad took two of three from Bucknell on April 16-17, including an 8-0 win in five innings in game one of the series. Brittany Younan is first on the team with a .373 average and 44 hits. Alex Heinen adds to offense with 21 RBI, while Emma Wong has 22 runs scored. Lauren Hynes boasts a team-best 2.63 ERA and 91 strikeouts.
