STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The UMass Lowell (15-16, 4-8) baseball team had its ninth inning rally fall short in the rubber game at Stony Brook (17-14, 7-3), 5-3, at Joe Nathan Field on Sunday afternoon.

Stony Brook built up a 2-0 lead with single runs in the first and second innings, before UMass Lowell knotted up the game at 2-2 in the third.
Oscar Marchena (Miami, Fla.) drove in
Ben Prada (Laurel, Md.) on a bloop single to right.
Steve Passatempo (Medford, Mass.) tied the game on a grounder to short, scoring Consolmagno.

Stony Brook countered with two runs in its half of the fourth to regain a two-run buffer at 4-2. A two-out triple off the bat of Casey Baker extended the lead to 5-2 in the fifth.

Marchena led the bats for UMass Lowell with a career-high four hits, while Sharpe and
Andy Savard (Tyngsboro, Mass.) each had two.

Tyler Honahan totaled 126 pitches in 5.2 innings to pick up the win for the hosts. At the plate, Andruw Gazzola went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored, while Bobby Honeyman scored twice.
