DURHAM, N.H. – The UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team was handed a 16-3 loss against New Hampshire in America East action on Saturday afternoon.
With the defeat, the River Hawks fall to 1-8 on the year and 0-1 in conference play, while the Wildcats improve to 4-6 overall and 1-0 in America East play.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Courtney Barrett (South Burlington, Vt.) made 12 saves in the outing, while her counter part made zero as the squad converted on all three of their shots on goal.
New Hampshire leaped out to an early 3-0 lead just six minutes into the contest, finding goals from three different players. The Wildcat's Nicole Grote went on to score three constitutive goals, as the home team extended their lead to 7-0 with 19:16 to play in the first half.

Taylor Sokol (Hopkinton, Mass.) broke opening the scoring for the River Hawks after netting a pass from freshman forward
Noelle Lambert (Londonderry, N.H.) for her ninth tally of the season.
The Wildcats retaliated with six more goals as the home team controlled a comfortable, 13-1, lead in the first 30 minutes of play.

Rebecca Idson (East Atlantic Beach, N.Y.) notched a goal apiece for the visitors to cut the deficit to 13-3. Lambert picked up her only goal of the game, after Sokol fed Lambert a beautiful pass in front of the net, before freshman midfielder
Kelly Moran (Newfields, N.H.) set up Idson for a goal of her own.
New Hampshire tacked on three more goals before time expired, while blanking the River Hawks in the final 20 minutes of action.
Saturday's contest marked just the second meeting between UMass Lowell and New Hampshire in the sport of women's lacrosse, as the Wildcats lead 2-0 in the all-time series. The River Hawks are back in action on April 2, when the squad hosts UMBC on Youth Day, slated to begin at 11 a.m.
