LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell softball team (4-19) will welcome Binghamton to River View Field for a three-game series to open its America East Conference schedule on Saturday-Sunday, March 26-27.

RIVER HAWK RECAPUMass Lowell, who currently owns a 4-19 overall record in 2016, is looking to snap a nine-game skid after completing its longest road trip of the season. The River Hawks played 12 games in 10 days in Clearwater, Fla., most recently at the USF Under Armour Tournament from March 18-20. Despite facing five setbacks on the weekend, the squad battled until the final inning in each contest, with four of the contest being decided by two runs or less. Junior
Tori Alcorn (Lowell, Mass.) led the River Hawks' offense last weekend, going 7-for-15 (.467) with two runs and three walks. Sophomore
Samantha McQueen (Ewing, N.J.) posted a team-best three RBI, while logging her first career home run, as well. Freshman
Kaysee Talcik (Shelton, Conn.) finished the weekend with a 1.50 ERA and nine strikeouts.

Tori Alcorn paces the River Hawks with 28 hits, 16 runs, 13 walks and a .406 batting average. Junior
Alisha Welch (Langley, British Columbia), who boasts a .329 average so far, totals a team-high 14 RBI. Senior

Samantha McQueen if first on the team with six doubles. In the circle, freshman
Sydney Wash (Suffolk, Va.) leads the pitchers with a 2.28 ERA, 28 strikeouts and two wins.

SCOUTING BINGHAMTONBinghamton comes into its series at UMass Lowell with a 9-9 overall record. The Bearcats most recently defeated Maryland, 9-3, on March 20. Jessica Rutherford has recorded a .459 batting average this year, good for first on the team, while Crysti Eichner leads BU with 18 RBI. Cara Martin has accumulated a 3.61ERA, and teammate Sarah Miller owns a 5-5 record.

THE LAST TIMEThe River Hawks visited Binghamton for a doubleheader in 2015, picking up an 8-6 win in game one before falling, 8-1, in game two.
