BERKELEY, Calif. – The UMass Lowell (6-5) baseball team fell in its west coast finale, 8-1, to the San Francisco Dons (5-14), Wednesday evening at Evans Diamond.
 The Dons took a 3-0 lead after the third, scoring one in the bottom of the first and adding a pair in the third.
UMass Lowell's run came in the top of the fourth, when
Steve Passatempo (Medford, Mass.) doubled home
Joe Consolmagno (Worcester, Mass.) to cut the deficit to 3-1.
San Francisco added a single run in the sixth and four in the eighth to seal the victory.
Starter
Ricky Constant (Nashua, N.H.) allowed three runs in three innings, while
Kendall Pomeroy (Shrewsbury, Mass.) struck out a career-high five batters in three innings of relief.
Ben Prada (Laurel, Md.) led the River Hawks with two hits, while
Chris Sharpe (Burlington, Mass.) singled in the first to continue his seven-game hitting streak.
The Dons' Thomas Ponticelli earned the win allowing one run in seven innings, with six strikeouts.Â
UMass Lowell returns east and hosts the NYIT Bears in the squad's home opener series, beginning with a doubleheader on March 19 at 12 p.m.
