LOWELL, Mass. -- The UMass Lowell women's basketball team bookends the Thanksgiving holiday with two road contests, taking on Indiana on November 23 before battling winless Boston University on Saturday, Nov. 26.

Last Time Out
Kayla Gibbs recorded her seventh career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds in the 72-59 loss to Longwood on Nov. 20. The River Hawks shot season highs from the field (45.8%) and three-point range (46.1%). Every UMass Lowell player that entered the game recorded at least one point, and Amanda Ortiz set a career high with six points. Katherine Smith registered a career-high three blocks.

Leading the Flock
Through four games, Nicole Hayner (Bedford, N.H.) leads the offense with 10.0 points per game, while Megan Hendrick (Alexandria, Va.) adds 8.8 in support. Katherine Smith (Canterbury, Ind.) has team-high 6.0 rebounds per game, and Shawnkia McCallum (Perry Hall, Md.) leads the squad with 13 total assists. Around the rim, Tyshay Britten (Norristown, Pa.) and Smith have each recorded two blocks in four games. As a unit the River Hawks are shooting at a 38.0 percent clip (73-192) from the field, and are 22-of-68 (32.4%) from beyond the arc.

Scouting Indiana
The Hoosiers (3-1) entered last week ranked No. 23 in the AP Poll but fell to Western Kentucky, 85-74, on November 19. A trio of players are averaging double-digits, led by Tyra Buss' 18.3 points per game. Alexis Gassion and Amanda Cahill are averaging 14.8 and 13.3 points, respectively. Cahill leads the team with 8.0 rebounds and four blocks, and Gassion has dished out 16 assists. As a team, Indiana is connecting on 49.4 percent (122-247) of its field goals and 33.8 percent (22-65) on three-pointers.

Scouting Boston University
The Terriers (0-3) entertain Harvard later tonight in a battle of Boston teams, following a 69-54 loss at UAlbany on Nov. 19. Sarah Hope leads the team with 15.3 points, and Kara Sheftic adds 9.7 points per game. On the glass Sophie Beaudry is pacing the squad with 7.3 boards per game. BU is shooting 37.7 percent (58-154) from the field, and is 17-of-49 (34.7%) from beyond the arc.

Series History
The Hoosiers and River Hawks begin their own time series this season. Meanwhile, UMass Lowell is 2-3 all-time against Boston University, including 1-0 in the DI era following last season's 70-57 win. 

Homecoming
Both Katherine Smith and Oda Shackelford call the Hoosier State home, growing up in Fort Wayne and Edinburgh, respectively. 

Full Team Effort
In the game against Longwood, every River Hawk player that entered the game scored, led by Gibbs' 13 points. It marked the first time UMass Lowell has achieved this feat since the win against Holy Cross on December 9, 2015.

Sharing is Caring
Through three games, the River Hawks has recorded 53 assists to lead the conference with 11.7 per game. In the season-opener at Towson, the River Hawks dished out 20 assists, led by Smith's career-high six. Last season's team only had 20 or more helpers in one game, in the final game at UAlbany.

Triple Threat
The River Hawks have bounced back from slow start, and are now connecting at a 32.4 percent clip to sit third in the America East. UMass Lowell has led the conference in three-point shooting the past two seasons, including 33.6 percent last season.

Newcomers Taking Flight
Five of the squad's seven rookies have seen action this season, and have made an immediate impact. Hendrick leads the team off the bench with 27.0 minute per game, and is second with 7.7 points per game. Britten has 5.0 ppg and 4.3 rebounds per game, and leads the team with two blocks. Guard Shawnkia McCallum leads all newcomers with 19 rebounds and 13 assists, while Kiana Batagelj (Hamilton, Ontarihas connected on three triples.
