CATONSVILLE, Md. -- The UMass Lowell Volleyball team fell in straight sets at UMBC on Friday night in America East play at RAC Arena. The set scores were 20-25, 20-25 and 23-25.Â
With the loss, the River Hawks drop to 6-21 overall and 1-10 in America East play. The Retrievers improve their record to 17-7 overall and 8-3 in conference play.Â
Sophomore outside hitter
Haley Shimon (Des Moines, Iowa) totaled a team-high 10 kills, to go along with a solid .231 hitting percentage. Freshman outside hitter
Katherine Claybaugh (Danville, Calif.) chipped in with nine kills and eight digs, while freshman outside hitter
Madi Bell (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) also turned in eight kills and three total blocks in the losing effort.Â
Senior middle blocker
Lauren Bennett (Wilmington, Mass.) finished the night with five total blocks and she became the ninth player in program history to record a 100-block season. Sophomore liberoÂ
Lindsey Visvardis (Homer Glen, Ill.) totaled a match-high 13 digs in another strong defensive effort.Â
UMass Lowell fought hard in the third set, notching a match-high 12 kills and a .281 hitting percentage.Â
