LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell field hockey team will close out the 2016 regular season with a pair of games against America East Conference opponents this week. The River Hawks first host Vermont on Friday, October 28 for a 6 p.m. tilt before making the trip to UAlbany for their final tilt on Sunday, October 30 at 1 p.m.

Looking at UMass Lowell
UMass Lowell owns a 7-9 overall record in 2016, including a 2-4 mark in America East action. The squad dropped two, hard-fought league decisions last week, beginning with a 3-0 loss at home against Maine on Oct. 21 and a 2-1 defeat up at New Hampshire on Oct. 23. So far in 2016, junior

Anouk Lalande (Brussels, Belgium) pace UMass Lowell with 24 points each. Doiron has notched a team-best 10 goals, while Lalande is first on the squad with eight assists. Sophomore

Kelsey Federico (Windham, N.H.), who has started eight of the 11 games she has appeared in, totals 60 saves with a .690Â Â save percentage.

Scouting Vermont
The Catamounts currently sit at 7-10 overall in 2016 and 0-6 in America East play. Most recently, UVM fell 3-1 at New Hampshire on Oct. 21 and 3-0 against UAlbany on Oct. 23. Through 17 games, Landon Warren has tallied a team-best 11 goals for 22 total points. Carla Godsman chips in with 13 points, while Lauren Tucker follows with 12 points of her own, including a team-high six assists. Goalkeeper Lena Benwood totals 124 saves with a .705 save percentage.

Scouting UAlbany
The Great Danes, who are currently 12-5 overall and 6-1 in America East games, are currently ranked 19th in the nation. Most recently, UAlbany defeated Maine, 2-0, on Oct. 21 and Vermont, 3-0, on Oct. 23. Paula Heuser is first on the team with 15 goals and 10 assists for 40 points. Molly Mariano has helped lead the offense with 23 total points. Maxi Primus has started 16 games in the cage for the Great Danes with 52 saves, a .765 save percentage and a 1.10 goals against average.

Series History
UMass Lowell and Vermont have met 15 times in the sport of field hockey, dating back to 1986. The Catamounts lead the all-time series, 11-3-1, but the River Hawks picked up a 3-2 win when the teams met in Lowell earlier this season on Oct. 9. UAlbany leads the all-time series against UMass Lowell, 9-0, after earning a 4-0 decision on Oct. 14.Â

The River Hawks' offensive output has been a real team effort this year, with 36 assists on 46 goals so far in 2016. That means 78.3 percent of the squad's goals have been assisted this season.

Making History
The River Hawks continue to set new Division I program records in 2016. In their 9-2 win against Saint Louis on Sept. 18, the team recorded its most goals in a game and the largest margin of victory since a 2012 contest against Franklin Pierce (9-1). More recently, the squad picked up its first win ever against America East opponent New Hampshire, in addition to notching their most league victories (2) since joining the conference back in 2013. With seven victories so far in 2016, UMass Lowell has already secured its winningest season at the Division I level.
