River Hawks Announce Release of UML GameDay App

New App to Enhance Game Day Experience for Tsongas Events

Apple Store Download: Download Now
Google Play Download: Download Now

LOWELL, MASS.
UMass Lowell Athletics is proud to announce a brand new addition to River Hawks events at the Tsongas Center: a mobile app developed specifically for game days: UMass Lowell Game Day.

Throughout the summer UMass Lowell has worked with Emotion Media Inc. to build the newest addition to a River Hawk fan game day experience at Tsongas Center hockey games, as well as men's and women's basketball games. As a result, the new "UMass Lowell Game Day app" is now available for fans to download from the Apple App Store and Google Play store.

This interactive experience is designed for in-game entertainment, always a focus for the department when it comes to the fan experience. Fans utilizing the app can check in using their seat and participate in interactive games, contest and polls during timeouts and intermissions. The app will feature up-to-date line charts, game notes, exclusive deals and offers, standings, stats and more.

In addition, the app will serve as the one-stop home for fans looking for the River Hawks Game Day audio to tune in while away from the venue.

"We are thrilled to unveil the River Hawks Game Day app to enhance the fan experience and engage fans at the Tsongas Center to create the ultimate in fan experiences," said Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Promotions Jon Boswell. "From the interactive components to the ability to provide information in real time, the app will allow our fans to participate throughout the night while staying connected with everything happening in the arena throughout their visit."

One of the app's most innovative features is known as "Light Up the Stands," where fans will be able to participate in creating a truly unique experience. The feature treats each user's phone as a pixel in an animated visual display.

For example, during player introductions, fans at hockey games can hold up their phones and pixelate their team's logo in the stands. The Fannex effect makes this possible by integrating the screen displays of the phones and creating an animated mosaic from the colors displayed. Fans with the app can shake their phone to activate a "goal light" pattern and join in the arena's light show celebration.

The UMass Lowell Game Day app can be downloaded for free today in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and used at your next River Hawks game day experience.
