Looking at the River HawksThe River Hawks fell to Massachusetts, 84-58, on December 30 in the non-conference finale.
Lindsey Doucette (Hopkinton, Mass.) led the way with her fourth double-double of the season (16 pts, 10 rebs).
Kayla Gibbs (Teaneck, N.J.) chipped in 13 points and grabbed eight boards.
Nicole Hayner (Bedford, N.H.) and
Asia Mitchell-Owens (Roxbury, Mass.) added 12 and 11 points, respectively, while Mitchell-Owens tied a career-high with seven assists
Leading the FlockThe UMass Lowell offense is led by a trio of players averaging double-digits this season, Doucette is leading the way with 13.9 points, and snagging 9.6 rebounds per game. Gibbs is scoring 13.3 points per game with 8.3 rebounds, while Mitchell-Owens is scoring 10.3 points and leading the team with 32 assists to facilitate the offense. On the defensive side of the ball, Doucette has eight blocks and 15 steals. As a unit, UMass Lowell is shooting 273-of-704 (38.8%) from the field and 32.0 percent (66-206) from three-point range.
Scouting HartfordThe Hawks are riding a six-game losing streak following their 66-46 defeat at Florida Gulf Coast on January 2. Hartford has not won a game since Dec. 2, a 49-41 decision against Central Connecticut. Deanna Mayza is leading the offense with 12.6 points per game and 48 assists. Alyssa Reaves and La'Trice Hall are controlling the glass for the Hawks, grabbing 5.2 and 5.1 rebounds per game, respectively. Reaves has also recorded seven blocks to lead the team. As a unit, Hartford is shooting 33.2 percent (235-708) from the field and 67-of-219 (30.6%) from three-point range.
Series HistoryThe Hawks lead the series, 3-1. UMass Lowell defeated Hartford for the first time last season, 65-62, on Feb. 14.
