LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell women's basketball team continue their home stand, hosting the UAlbany Great Danes at 11 a.m. for Health and Fitness Field Trip Day, presented by Lowell General Hospital and Collins Dentistry for Children at the Tsongas Center.
Looking at the River HawksThe River Hawks saw an 11-point third-quarter lead dwindle down until the Binghamton Bearcats took a 59-57 advantage with 6:35 left in regulation. UMass Lowell regained the upper hand, 64-63, on a fast break layup by
Kayla Gibbs (Teaneck, N.J.) with 34 seconds left, and extended it to 66-63 on a pair of free throws by
Lindsey Doucette (Hopkinton, Mass.). The Bearcat's Kim Albrecht hit a deep three with 0.4 ticks showing and Binghamton iced the game in overtime. Gibbs scored a career-high 27 points with 10 rebounds, and Doucette chipped in 19. Imani Watkins dropped in 27 for Binghamton, and Albrecht added 23. The loss snapped the River Hawks' four-game win streak in the Tsongas Center, and was the first loss under
Jenerrie Harris when her team scores 70 or more points.
Leading the FlockThe UMass Lowell offense is led by a trio of players averaging double-digits this season. Doucette is controlling the attack with 13.9 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. After her career game, Gibbs is scoring 13.2 points per game with 8.7 rebounds, while
