River Hawks Host MLK Sunday Funday

LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell Athletic Department will be partnering with the Office of Multicultural Affairs and Campus Recreation for "MLK Sunday Funday with the River Hawks" on Sunday, January 24.

This free event is open to children ages 6-12, and will be held at the Campus Recreation Center at UMass Lowell, from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

"This is a great opportunity for our student-athletes to volunteer for a few hours by playing games, and making arts and crafts, with the youth from Lowell and the surrounding areas," said Associate Athletic Director for Academics and Student-Athlete Services Christine Smith. "It also gives everyone a chance to learn a little bit about Martin Luther King, Jr. and the positive difference he made in the world today."

The day will include a variety of activities, including sports, crafts, camp games and much more, as several River Hawk student-athletes will be in attendance to join in on the fun. A free lunch will be served at the end of the day, and all campers and parents are invited to attend the UMass Lowell Men's Basketball game against Binghamton University starting at 2 p.m. Â Tickets will be free of charge for camp participants and their guardians.
