HANOVER, N.H. –
Despite a goal by Katelyn Vieira (Warwick, R.I.) and a hard-fought first half, the River Hawks (2-7-0) fall, 4-1, to Dartmouth (6-1-1).

"I couldn't be happier with the group," said Head Coach Joel Bancroft. "This is a team that the last two games at home, have out scored their opponents 12-0. To be 1-1 at half, I thought our urgency, effort, and team play was very good."

In the first half, the home team had the edge, outshooting the River Hawks, 9-2. Schneider picked up five saves, while the defense made key stops to hold the home team to one goal.

The Big Green struck first in the 16th minute, when Melanie Vangel received a cross in the box, shooting right of Julia Schneider (Bridgewater, Mass.) and finding the back of the net.

The River Hawks answered quickly, tying the game, 1-1. Vieira buried a header over goalkeeper Casey Cousineau in the 22nd minute, on a corner kick from Alex Guzman (Las Vegas, Nev.), who was credited the assist.  Vieira picked up her second goal of the season, Guzman her first assist.

The game winner came in the 51st minute, Dartmouth's Meredith Gurnee found enough of the ball, heading it into the net, preserving the win for her team. Remy Borinsky tallied an insurance goal in the 76th minute, blasting a shot from the left corner of the box that sallied over the hands of Schneider. The last goal came in the 88' minute by Jessica Lukas, who picked up a lose ball in the box and sent it to the back of the net.

Schneider posted a career high eight saves in the contest.

Thursday's contest marked the third meeting ever between UMass Lowell and Dartmouth. The Big Green now lead the all-time series 3-0. The River Hawks are back home Monday, Sept. 28 taking on Quinnipiac under the lights at 7 p.m.
