ST. PAUL, Minn. – Former UMass Lowell defenseman Christian Folin (Gothenburg, Sweden) agreed to re-sign with the Minnesota Wild, inking a two-year, $1.45 million one-way contract on Saturday.
The restricted free agent has been with the Wild since signing as an undrafted free agent in 2014, and made his NHL debut on April 10, 2014, registering his first career assist in a 4-2 win over St. Louis.
Folin finished the 2014-2015 season with 10 points (2g, 8a) and 13 penalty minutes in 40 games with the team. He also added four points (2g, 2a) and four PIM in 13 games with Minnesota's AHL affiliate, the Iowa Wild.
As a River Hawk, Folin tallied 41 points (12g, 29a) and a +27 plus/minus rating in 79 career games, while posting 20 points (6g, 14a) playing in all 41 games in his final season for the River Hawks. As a freshman, Folin skated in 38 of 41 games for the River Hawks in 2012-13, recording 21 points (6g, 15a).
