The UMass Lowell baseball team wraps up their nine-game road trip on Wednesday, Apr. 8 against Brown before playing their first three home contests of the season at LeLacheur Park on Saturday, Apr. 11 and Sunday Apr. 12 against Maine.

SCOUTING THE RIVER HAWKS
The River Hawks were winless in three attempts last week including a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Binghamton Monday morning in Vestal, N.Y. Shortstop Danny Mendick (Rochester, N.Y.) hit .500 (6-for-12) with a pair of doubles and two RBI while Ian Strom (Hopedale, Mass.) recorded five hits in 12 at bats.

LAST TIME AGAINST THE BEARS
Zack Tower (Auburn, Mass.) delivered a pinch-hit, go-ahead grand slam in the 6th inning to give the River Hawks a 5-3 victory and earn a doubleheader split against the Bears on April 29, 2014. Overall, UMass Lowell played Brown four times last season with the Game 2 win being the lone victory.

LAST TIME AGAINST THE BLACK BEARS
After the series was originally postponed due to inclement weather, the River Hawks suffered a three-game sweep against the Black Bears April 12-13 of last season. All three tilts were decided by one run beginning with Maine sweeping a pair of games, 5-4 in Game 1, 3-2 in Game 2. The Black Bears outdueled the River Hawks in the Sunday finale, 2-1, to complete the three-game sweep.

WE'RE GOING STREAKING!
Ian Strom's hot bat has carried over from March into April. The sophomore is currently riding a ten-game hitting streak dating back to March 17 with multi-hit games in seven of the ten. Strom's .362 batting average is tops on the team and ranks second in America East for players appearing in at least 15 games.

FILLING UP THE STAT SHEET
Senior Danny Mendick has been a strong presence in the middle of the River Hawks' lineup all season. He leads the team in RBI (13), on-base percentage (.435), slugging percentage (.468), doubles (7) and total bases (36).

RIVER HAWKS IN THE AE
UMass Lowell ranks among the conference leaders in several categories. The team leads the America East in on-base percentage (.367) and sits in a tie for first in hit batsmen (25) while ranking second in batting average (.267), stolen bases (41), fewest errors (25) and double plays turned (20). The River Hawks also rank third in walks (84) and are tied for third in triples (5).
