LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell softball team has a full slate this week with six games in six days.
The River Hawks are scheduled to host Boston University in a 4 p.m. tilt on Tuesday, April 7 before traveling to Boston College for a doubleheader on Thursday, April 9 beginning at 2 p.m. The squad will then welcome America East opponent Maine to River View Field for a three-game weekend series starting with two games on Saturday, April 11 at 1 p.m., followed by a single game on Sunday, April 12 at 12 p.m.
RIVER HAWK RECAPUMass Lowell owns a 10-17 overall record so far in 2015, including a 0-3 mark in America East play. The team went 1-4 in five games at home last week, splitting a pair of games against Bryant on March 31 and dropping the three games in their first conference series of the season against UMBC on April 3-4. Freshman
Vanessa Cooper (Pleasant Gap, Pa.) hit .462 for the week (6-13) with five RBI to pace the River Hawks.

Ariana Darcy (Kingston, N.Y.) is first on the squad with a .303 batting average and 15 runs scored. Sophomore
Alisha Welch (Langley, British Columbia) is hitting .296 to add to the offense, and is one of three River Hawks with a team-high 21 hits. Junior
Emilia Davies (Parker, Colo.) and Cooper total 13 RBI apiece, while junior
Alyssa Zinkiewicz (Massapequa, N.Y.) has logged six doubles so far. In addition, Darcy, Davies and Cooper lead the River Hawks with two home runs each. In the circle, junior

Erica Armenti (Shrewsbury, Mass.) owns a team-best 3.70 ERA.
SCOUTING BOSTON UNIVERSITYThe Terriers (7-20, 1-4 Patriot League) have lost five of their last six contests. Emma Wong is batting .406, and her 28 hits are tied for the team lead. Gabi Martinez and Emily Felbaum are tied with three home runs apiece, while Felbaum leads the team with 14 RBI. In the circle, Makinna Akers is 3-5 with a 4.29 ERA, striking out 31 batters and only walking 10.

SCOUTING BOSTON COLLEGEThe Eagles (16-15, 1-8 ACC) play at Harvard and entertain BU before traveling to Lowell. Annie Murphy leads the team with a .318 average and 28 hits. Her 38 total bases also top the team's stats. Tatiana Cortez has hit a team-high three home runs and driven in 17 runs. Jordan Chimento leads the squad with 19 RBI and seven doubles. In the circle, Allyson Frei has posted an 11-9 record with a 2.85 ERA and 119 strikeouts in 113 innings.

SCOUTING MAINEThe Black Bears (12-13, 1-0 AE) defeated UAlbany, 2-0, on April 5. The two teams will finish their three-game series with two games today, Monday. Erika Leonard is hitting .329 with a team-high 15 RBI. Her three home runs are tied for the team lead with Nikki Byron and Janelle Bouchard. Alexis Bogdanovich is 7-3 with a 1.42 ERA and eight complete games. She has struck out 81 batters, while only allowing five walks.

THE LAST TIMEUMass Lowell dropped a home-and-home series against Boston University last season. The River Hawks fell, 9-1, at home on April 17 before facing a 4-3 setback against the Terriers on the road on April 28. Maine and UMass Lowell played two games in Lowell on March 29, as the Black Bears earned 12-9 and 9-1 victories.

WALKING INTO THE RECORD BOOKSAriana Darcy drew a walk in game one against Bryant on March 31, marking her 72nd career walk. She is now tied for first all-time in the category, matching Kim O'Connell's record set from 1985-88.

MORE RECORDS TO WATCHAriana Darcy is nearing the top of several other career record lists for the River Hawks. She is third overall in triples (16), tied for third in home runs (20), sixth in total bases (284), seventh in runs scored (119), and tied for ninth in RBI (94).
Marielle Handley is currently fourth in program history with 260 career strikeouts, as well.

HONORS AND AWARDSUMass Lowell softball swept the first week of America East awards on February 10, as
Alyssa Zinkiewicz was named Player of the Week,
Erica Armenti earned Pitcher of the Week honors and
Vanessa Cooper was tabbed Rookie of the Week. In week three,
Ariana Darcy took Player of the Week accolades and Cooper earned her second Rookie of the Week nod. Zinkiewicz (Feb. 10) and
Ally Greene (Feb. 24) have also been named River Hawk of the Week this season.
