Box Score (PDF)STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team dropped its final contest of its inaugural season, 22-1, to the No. 6 Stony Brook Seawolves Saturday night.
Behind four consecutive goals by Courtney Murphy in the opening 3:02, the Seawolves (16-1, 6-0) stormed out to a 20-0 halftime lead.
Courtney Barrett (south Burlington, Vt.) made seven saves in the first half, to push her season total to 173.
Micaela Sanborn (Chelmsford, Mass.) got the River Hawks (0-17, 0-6) on the board with 51 seconds remaining in the second half. The midfielder ran through the fan avoiding defenders, until she got the to right side and fired a low shot that beat the goalie's stick and into the twine.
Murphy led all scorers with six goals, while Kylie Ohlmilller added four goals and five assists for a game-high nine points. Dorrien Van Dyke scored three goals and three helpers.
Sanborn ended the season with 10 goals to rank fifth on the team.
Emily Wright (Avon, Conn.) had a team-high 18 tallies on the season.
Jesse Jay (Amherst, N.H.) led the team with 26 points (14g, 12a).
Taylor Sokol (Hopkinton, Mass.) who scored the first ever goal and home goal in program history and
Devon McKercher (Vestal, N.Y.) round up the top five with 11 and 13 goals, respectively.
The River Hawks will look to next year for their second season of Division I play in the America East.Â
