LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team will play its final non-conference game of the season, traveling to take on the Crimson under the lights. Â
River Hawk Review
The River Hawks were defeated by Vermont 23-9, in their final home game of the season on April 19. Devon McKercher (Vestal, N.Y.) scored a career-high four goals, and Emily Wright (Avon, Conn.) recorded her third career hat trick. UMass Lowell scored a season-high nine goals, and Jesse Jay (Amherst, N.H.) added four assists.
The Price is Wright
With 11 goals in her last six games, Wright now has a team-high 18 tallies. She has recorded three hat tricks in those games, and has five multi-goal games this season.
Jumping for Jay
Jay leads the River Hawks with 25 points and 11 assists, her 14 goals rank second on the team. She has recorded at least one point in 12 games, and has seven multi-point games.
Protecting the Nest
Barrett leads the America East and is third nationally with 153 saves. Her 10.20 saves per game also lead the conference, and rank fourth in the nation. She also has team-highs in ground balls (51) and caused turnovers (20). Barrett is also averaging 3.40 ground balls per game to lead the America East and rank third in the nation.
Beginning of a New Era
In its first year of competition, UMass Lowell's roster consists of 21 freshmen, two juniors and one sophomore.
Scouting Harvard
The Crimson (6-7, 3-3 Ivy League) have lost three of their last four, including back-to-back games to No. 4 Boston College and No. 10 Penn. Marisa Romeo leads the offense with 37 goals and 11 assists for 48 points. Megan Hennessey has a team-high 13 assists. Kelly Weis has started all 13 games, boasting a golas against average of 10.07 and a .416 save percentage.
