LOWELL, Mass. - The UMass Lowell softball team's back-to-back doubleheaders originally scheduled for Wednesday-Thursday, March 25-26, have been cancelled due to unplayable field conditions.

On Wednesday, umprires deemed River View Field to be hazardous during a pre-game walk through and called off the River Hawks' home opener against Holy Cross.

UMass Lowell will also miss its doubleheader against Quinnipiac, slated to be played in Hamden, Conn. on Thursday, due to field conditions and expected rain in the area.
 
The non-conference games have yet to be rescheduled. The River Hawks will return to action this weekend, March 28-29, when they travel to Binghamton for their America East Conference opener. UMass Lowell will square off against the Bearcats in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 28 beginning at 1 p.m. before wrapping up the three-game series with a 12 p.m. tilt on Sunday, March 29.
