LOWELL, Mass. – Jesse Jay (Amherst, N.H.) scored two goals as the UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference clash, 16-3 to Bryant University on Monday afternoon at Wicked Blue Field.

"I think we're looking forward to a little bit of a day off tomorrow as we regain our focus and resting our bodies in preparation for our next opponent on Friday," said Head Coach Carissa Medeiros. "I'm really proud of Ally (Williams) for getting on the scoreboard and contributing in a game like this as she starts to build her confidence back up."

The Bulldogs (6-2) took the early 1-0 lead 33 seconds into the game, on Emily Columbus' first of four goals of the game. Bryant took an 11-0 lead before the River Hawks (0-9) broke through.

Jay scored her first goal of the game, off a free-position shot, with 1:00 on the clock before halftime. The tally was Jay's team-leading 10th goal of the season, and her first career free-position goal. She has now scored

Ally Williams (Winter Park, Fla.) scored her first career goal with 9:35 on the clock in the second half, off another free-position shot. Jay added her 11th goal of the season off a nifty pass from Micaela Sanborn (Chelmsford, Mass.) with 4:25 remaining in regulation.

Bryant's Skylar Zlotnick (3g, 1a) and Columbus (4g) each had four points to lead the offense. Nicole Britton added a game-high two assists.

UMass Lowell was perfect on two free-position shots, and Courtney Barrett (South Burlington, Vt.) made three saves. Barrett also recorded a game-high six ground balls.

The River Hawks are back in action to wrap up their four-game homestand with PAC-12 foe Colorado, on March 27 at 2 p.m.
