Lowell, Mass. – The UMass Lowell men's lacrosse team returns home for two games this week against Fairfield on Tuesday at 4 p.m. before their conference home opener on Saturday against Vermont at 3 p.m.

River Hawk Recap
In their inaugural America East Conference game, UMass Lowell was downed by Hartford 13-5 Saturday afternoon at Al-Marzook Field. Freshman Cory Highfield (Toronto, Ontario) scored twice for the River Hawks to give him five goals in two games for the week while freshmen Zack Schwartz (Huntington, N.Y.) and Noah Ryan (Hampstead, Md.) collected their first collegiate points.

Can You Take Me Higher?
Cory Highfield continued his strong freshman campaign last week with five goals including a hat trick against Providence. He ranks second on the team with eight goals and is tied for second with ten points.

Home Sweet Home
The River Hawks don't have to leave Lowell this week with two home games at Cushing Field Complex. After Tuesday's tilt with Fairfield, Vermont comes to town on Saturday for the team's conference home opener.

Starting Off Defensive
UMass Lowell has been stingy defensively in the first quarter of games in the month of March. In three games, the River Hawks have allowed just two goals.

Scouting Fairfield
Fairfield comes in to Tuesday's game with a record of 3-4 and will be playing their fourth road game out of five away from home. Their lone home game during that stretch was a 13-9 win on Saturday against Colgate in which three different Stags tallied four points. Senior attackman Tristan Sperry paces the Stags with 25 points (12g,13a) while junior midfielder T.J. Neubauer leads the team with 13 goals.

Head Coach Ed Stephenson on Fairfield
"Fairfield is a very strong and well coached veteran squad.  They have kept all opponents to 10 goals or less and they are averaging over 10 goals per game."

Scouting Vermont
The Catamounts are the lone America East team that hasn't played a conference game yet in 2015. Vermont is currently on a two-game losing streak after losing a high-scoring affair to Sacred Heart on Saturday, 21-17. Like the River Hawks, the Catamounts also have a victory over NJIT, defeating the Highlanders 17-10 back on March 3. Sophomore Cam Milligan leads the team with 28 points (14g,14a) while junior James Barlow has the team lead with 19 goals.

Head Coach Ed Stephenson on Vermont
"Vermont is a very physical and aggressive team that pushes tempo and transition."
