LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team heads back on the road for a midweek non-conference clash against the Siena Saints, Wednesday at 3 p.m.
River Hawk Review
The River Hawks dropped their fifth straight on Sunday, coming at the hands of the Manhattan Jaspers, 10-6. Kaylan DiModugno (Deer Park, N.J.) scored her first career goal in the effort. Jesse Jay (Amherst, N.Y.) led the team with a career-high four point game (2 g, 2 a). Taylor Sokol (Hopkinton, Mass.) added her sixth and seventh goals of the season.
Sokol Setting the Standard
Sokol leads the team with seven goals, 18 total shots and 11 shots on goal. Her three assists ranks her second, and 10 points is tied for the team lead. The Hopkinton, Mass. native is the only player to have scored in every game so far this season.
Protecting the Nest
Courtney Barrett (South Burlington, Vt.) leads the America East with 61 saves. She also has team-highs in ground balls (18) and caused turnovers (10).
Beginning of a New Era
In its first year of competition, UMass Lowell's roster consists of 21 freshmen, two juniors and one sophomore.
Scouting Siena
The Saints sit at 1-4 after beginning the season with a three-game losing streak, snapped with a 2-5 win against Central Connecticut back on February 27. Their last time out resulted in a 9-8 loss to Bryant on March 7. Erin Mossop leads the team with 13 goals and 16 points. Her three assists rank second on the team to Sarah Croutier's five. Danielle DeLision has made all five starts in net, recording 30 saves and a 9.19 goals against average.

"Our goals for this game are simple- shoot to score and make adjustments. I think those were the areas that we struggled with this weekend so if we improve our shooting percentage and are able to adapt to whatever Siena throws at us in the game, then we will be successful."
