Box Score (PDF)ALBANY, N.Y. – The UMass Lowell women's basketball team had their three-game win streak brought to a halt in a 93-57 loss to UAlbany at SEFCU Arena on Saturday evening.

The Great Danes, who sit atop the America East Conference standings, used a strong first half to up their record to 17-7 overall and 10-1 in conference play while the River Hawks fall to 10-13 and 4-7 in the AE.

Junior
Melissa Frase led the team in the scoring department with 11 points, nine of which came in the first half. The freshmen trio of
Kayla Gibbs (Teaneck, N.J.),
Jontay Walton (Buffalo, N.Y.) and
Brianna Rudolph (Lynn, Mass.) trailed Frase as each added nine points.

The River Hawks hung with the Great Danes over the opening 10 minutes of the first half as the teams exchanged the lead twice and drew even three times. Senior
Shannon Samuels (Windsor, Conn.) gave the team their first lead on their opening basket, banking in a triple from the right wing before classmate
Jasmine McRoy (Gaithersburg, Md.) connected on a triple from the left wing to tie the game at nine several possessions later.

UAlbany took control from there, ripping off a 37-12 run to take a 46-21 lead into the break. Frase did her best to keep the River Hawks afloat as she got hot from distance by sinking three three-pointers during the run. The junior guard matched her season and career-high for the second game in a row after making three treys against UMBC on Wednesday.

Reigning AE Player of the Year Shereesha Richards was one of four Great Danes to reach double-figures as she scored a game-high 31 points and notched her fourth 30-point game of the season and sixth of her career.

UMass Lowell remained aggressive throughout and earned their most trips of the season to the free throw line where they made 19-of-28 attempts.

The River Hawks will return to Costello Athletic Center to face Maine on Wednesday with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m.
