LOWELL, Mass. - The UMass Lowell men's basketball team, who is currently 10-15 overall and 4-8 in America East action, hosts Hartford in its first of three straight home games on Saturday, February 14 beginning at 2 p.m.
LAST TIME OUTUMass Lowell dropped a 96-53 decision at the University of Vermont on Wednesday evening. Senior
Chad Holley paced the River Hawks with 16 points in the outing, while graduate student
Marco Banegas-Flores registered nine. Redshirt-senior
Kerry Weldon totaled a team-high five rebounds, as well. The Catamounts used 16-21 shooting (76.2%) from beyond the arc to earn the victory.

Jahad Thomas leads the River Hawks with 14.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Freshman

Chad Holley have added to the offensive effort with 8.8 and 8.7 points, respectively, while freshman

Kerry Weldon helps the team on the glass with 4.4 rebounds per game. As a team, UMass Lowell is shooting 40.9% (525-1285) from the floor and 35.2% (184-523) from beyond the arc. The squad is also shooting 66.3% (275-415) from the line.
SCOUTING HARTFORDThe Hawks sit at 12-12 overall and 5-6 in the America East after dropping an overtime battle to New Hampshire, 76-70. Since defeating the River Hawks on January 17, Hartford has gone 2-5. Mark Nwakamma leads the offense with 13 points per game, and also controls the glass with six rebounds a game. Corban Wroe and Yolonzo Moore II both lead the team with 2.6 assists. As a unit the Hawks are shooting 40% (512-1270) from the field and 33.7% (196-582) from three-point range.
ROOKIE RECORDAs of February 9, UMass Lowell was one of only three teams in the nation to have two freshmen as their top two scorers. The River Hawks are joined by the University of Central Florida and Binghamton.
GAME, SET ... MATCHWith the team's 67-51 victory against UMBC on Feb. 5, the River Hawks not only snapped a five-game skid, but also matched their total number of wins from last season.
UNDER CONTROLThe River Hawks posted a season low for turnovers at Sacred Heart with just six. The team is currently first in the America East with a +1.84 turnover margin.Â
STEALING THE SHOWThe River Hawks are first in the AE with 7.1 steals per game. Graduate student
Marco Banegas-Flores, who posted a career-high four steals at Rhode Island and Vermont, is second in the league with 2.0 per game and leads the team with 47 total. The team logged 15 steals at NJIT on Nov. 22 for the first time since reaching the mark against Adelphi on January 11, 2012.
