BURLINGTON, Vt. -
The UMass Lowell men's basketball team, who is currently 10-14 overall and 4-7 in America East action, visits Vermont looking to earn its first ever win against the America East Conference opponent on Wednesday. Tipoff at Patrick Gymnasium in Burlington is slated for 7 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Senior Chad Holley recorded a season-high 17 points to pace UMass Lowell in a 69-59 loss at UAlbany on Saturday evening. The River Hawks threatened to pull out the upset in the final minutes of play, coming within two points of the lead, but the Great Danes were able to hold on. Holley set a new career high, going 9-for-9 at the foul line. Graduate student Marco Banegas-Flores added to the offensive effort with 10 points, while freshman Brad Schaub controlled the glass with five rebounds.

LEADING THE FLOCK
Through 24 games, Redshirt-freshman Jahad Thomas leads the River Hawks with 14.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Freshman Lance Crawford and Chad Holley have added to the offensive effort with 8.8 and 8.4 points, respectively, while freshman Matt Harris averages 7.8 points, as well. Redshirt-senior Kerry Weldon helps the team on the glass with 4.4 rebounds per game. As a team, UMass Lowell is shooting 41.1% (508-1237) from the floor and 35.1% (178-507) from beyond the arc. The squad is also shooting 66.8% (262-392) from the line.

SCOUTING VERMONT
The Catamounts, 14-10 overall and 9-2 in the America East, sit in second place in the league standings. The squad is in the midst of a three-game win streak. Ethan O'Day is the lone scorer in double figures, averaging 11.1. Trae Haynes-Bell leads the team with 3.1 assists per game, while Dre Wills controls the glass for Vermont, grabbing 4.9 rebounds a game. As a unit, the Catamounts are shooting 45.6% (534-1170) from the field and 33.3% (117-351) from three-point range.

SERIES HISTORY
Wednesday's contest marks just the fourth meeting ever between UMass Lowell and Vermont in the sport of men's basketball. The Catamounts pulled away late to take a 61-50 decision when the teams clashed earlier this year on January 25.

ROOKIE RECORD
As of February 9, UMass Lowell was one of only three teams in the nation to have two freshmen as their top two scorers. The River Hawks are joined by the University of Central Florida and Binghamton.

GAME, SET ... MATCH
With the team's 67-51 victory against UMBC on Feb. 5, the River Hawks not only snapped a five-game skid, but also matched their total number of wins from last season.

TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT
Seven of the squad's 10 wins so far have been decided by 10 points or less, including five by seven points or less. The team even trailed in the second half in seven games this year before battling back to earn the victories.

SUPERIOR SUBS
At UMBC on Jan. 7, UMass Lowell's bench players outscored the Retrievers', 51-1, to help the team come back to earn the overtime victory. The River Hawks' reserves have been pivotal this year, outscoring their opponents, 536-380. That's an average of +6.5 points per game.

STEALING THE SHOW
The River Hawks are first in the AE with 7.1 steals per game. Graduate student Marco Banegas-Flores, who posted a career-high four steals at Rhode Island, is third in the league with 2.0 per game and leads the team with 43 total. The team logged 15 steals at NJIT on Nov. 22 for the first time since reaching the mark against Adelphi on January 11, 2012. Kerry Weldon and Jahad Thomas set season-high marks for the team with five steals apiece against NJIT and Maine, respectively.

A THREAT ON THREES
As a whole, UMass Lowell is second in the conference with 7.4 3FGs per game. Matt Harris leads the team with 37. In his first eight collegiate games, nine of Harris' 10 field goals came from beyond the arc, including three in the season opener at Ohio State.
