LAST TIME OUT: The River Hawks snapped a five-game losing streak with a convincing 72-63 victory over Vermont last Sunday at the Tsongas Center. The team pushed a second half lead as large as 17 to remain perfect in two games played in their alternate home venue. Shannon Samuels broke out of her scoring slump, scoring a game-high 25 points, Lindsey Doucette added 12 and Jasmine McRoy notched her second double-double of the year with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Leading 37-31 at halftime, the River Hawks came out  firing to start the second half, led by five from junior Melissa Frase. The River Hawks outscored the Catamounts 25-14 over the opening 11 minutes of the second half to take their largest lead of the game at 17 at never looked back despite UVMís attempts to chip away at the lead.
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS: The Bearcats have lost five straight and six of their last seven since defeating the River Hawks on January 3rd. At 2-6 in America East play, 4-17 overall, Binghamton sits in a tie with UMass Lowell in the standings. Imani Watkins and Jasmine Sina lead the offense with 14.9 and 14.6 points per game, respectively. The duo leads the team in assists as well, Watkins is dishing out 3.3, followed by Sinaís three per game. Sherae Swinson (11.3) and Kim Albrecht (11.0) the other scorers in double figures. Swinson also controls the glass for the Bearcats, grabbing 7.2 rebounds a game. As a unit Binghamton is shooting 425-of-1151 (36.9 percent) from the field, and 30.3 percent (132-436) from three-point range.
ALL-TIME SERIES: The River Hawks trail the Bearcats 4-3 in the series after coming up short in a 65-64 nailbiter at Binghamton to tip-off conference play on January 3rd. UMass Lowell had an 11-point lead with under 12 minutes remaining but couldnít hang on as Shannon Samuelsí attempted bank shot in the paint was too strong. The teams battled it out to the tune of 15 lead changes with the River Hawks extending their lead to as many as 11 in the second half.
Forward Lindsey Doucette recorded her third double-double of the season while setting the tone for the River Hawks offense early, scoring the teams first six points. Doucette totaled 19 points and 10 rebounds while tying her career-high with five steals.
LUCKY 65: The team to reach 65 points has gone on to win the last three games in the series.
DOUCETTE TAMES BEARCATS: Lindsey Doucette has played some of her best basketball against Binghamton, including a 19 point, 10 rebound double-double in the first meeting this year. Her career-highís in points (24) and rebounds (14) both came at home against BU. Two of her 11 career double-double have come against Binghamton.
EARLY SUCCESS: With the decision over Vermont on Sunday, first-year head coach Jenerrie Harris picked up her eighth win at the helm of the River Hawks and matched Pat McCoy (1975-76) for the third-most wins by a first-year head coach. Harris, the programs seventh head coach, only trails Carol Mastacouris (10) and Deborah Preis (12).
SAMUELS SHOWS OUT: Senior guard Shannon Samuels broke out of her scoring funk with 25 points against UVM on Sunday. The guard had a total of 21 points in the three games prior to hosting the Catamounts. Samuels started the contest by pouring in 11 of the teams first 17 points and notched her sixth 20-point game of the season. The senior guard also matched the program record that she set earlier this year for free throws attempted, going 11-of-17 from the stripe. She had set the record against UMBC with a 16-of-17 performance on January 8.
THREES WILD: In the last seven games the team has made six or more treys six times and have made more triples then their opponents in five of those contests. The River Hawks lead the America East in three-pointersmade per game (7.1), shooting percentage (33.2%) and shooting percentage defensed (27.9%).
