Adam Chapie (Oxford, Mich.) scored a career-high two goals to lead the No. 6 ranked UMass Lowell hockey team to a 2-0 victory at Maine on Friday night at Alfond Arena in Hockey East play.
UMass Lowell with the victory improves its record to 15-4-3 overall (8-1-2 HEA), which moves the River Hawks into sole possession of first-place in the Hockey East standings. Maine drops to 7-15-1 overall (2-7-0 HEA) with the loss.

Adam Chapie just 1:18 apart and that was all they would need to earn their fourth road win of the season. The first goal at 8:38 was a tip in front of the net on a delayed penalty extra attacker goal off a shot from junior forward
Michael Fallon (Glenview, Ill.) from the point and the second came on the power play at 9:56. UMass Lowell held an 13-5 shot advantage in the opening frame against the Black Bears.
Chapie, who scored his fifth and sixth goals of the season, finished with a career-high and game-high seven shots on goal.

Kevin Boyle (Manalapan, N.J.) totaled 24 saves for his 12th win of the season and his second career shutout for the River Hawks. Maine goalie Matt Morris registered 40 saves in the losing effort for the Black Bears, which included 13 stops in the third period. The River Hawks outshot Maine, 42-24 for the game, which included a 16-10 advantage in the middle frame.
The River Hawks finished the night 1-for-3 on the power play and were a perfect 3-for-3 on the penalty kill. Sophomore defenseman
